摘要: Compounds that are organic radicals that can have a dual function. The compounds can be fluorescent emitters that emit in the near-IR. The compounds can also facilitate reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) to convert triplet excitons in an OLED to singlet excited states to maximize utilization of generated excitons in the OLED and approach 100% internal quantum efficiency.

In Formula I, moiety A and moiety B either a monocyclic ring or a polycyclic fused ring system; each of X1 to X4, Z1, and Z2 is C or N; K1 is a direct bond, O, S, N(Rα), P(Rα), B(Rα), C(Rα)(Rβ), or Si(Rα)(Rβ); L1 is a direct bond or a linking group; each Rα, Rβ, RA and RB is hydrogen or a General Substituent; and LA is coordinated to a metal M. 摘要: The present invention includes novel platinum complexes with tridentate ligands forming dimeric structures that are calculated to have blue emission. The ligand backbone and pendant donor rings can be altered to give different emission maxima. The present invention also includes various pendant donor rings and multiple different ligand backbones. Such complexes are suitable for use as an emitter in organic light emitting devices.

The novel materials include two fused 5-membered aromatic or pseudoaromatic rings, which are bonded with 6 membered aromatic rings to serve as chelation ligands for a transition metal. The novel materials were determined computationally to have appropriate triplet energies for use as blue emitters and to possess sufficient chemical stability for use in devices.
