摘要: The present invention provides transseptal puncture devices configured to access structures on the left side of the heart from the right side of the heart without requiring open-heart surgery. The devices have adjustable stiffness to enter the vasculature in a flexible, atraumatic fashion, then become rigid once in place to provide a stable platform for penetration of the fossa ovalis. The devices are further configured to controllably and stably extend a needle to puncture the FO. The devices include an indwelling blunt stylus that can extend perpendicularly from the device to increase the accuracy of placement near the fossa ovalis.

摘要: In some embodiments, a method includes a shaft having a side catheter guide attached thereto via a guide coupler into an inferior vena cava and a superior vena cava such that the guide coupler is disposed in a right atrium, and applying a distal force to a proximal portion of the side catheter guide such that a distal end of the side catheter guide deflects laterally about the guide coupler towards a septum. The method further includes extending a side catheter that is disposed within the side catheter guide distally from the side catheter guide towards and into contact with the septum. The method further includes, with the side catheter in contact with the septum, extending a septum penetrator that is slidably disposed within the side catheter distally from the side catheter such that the septum penetrator pierces the septum.

摘要: The present invention provides devices for treating functional mitral regurgitation and methods of use thereof. The devices translocate a subject's mitral valve in an apical direction. The devices thereby treat mitral regurgitation while preserving a subject's original mitral valve and chordae tendinae.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a guidewire configured for placement of large bore catheters and cannulae inside of a patient's blood vessels without fluoroscopic guidance. The guidewire, in accordance with certain aspects of an embodiment of the invention, comprises sections of varying stiffness throughout optimally fixed length portions of the guidewire that particularly ease placement of such large bore catheters and cannulae in ECMO applications.

摘要: A modular cannula for drainage and return of fluids from and to a body, such as the body of a patient, is adjustable to enable an operator to achieve desired flow characteristics during such fluid drainage and return procedures. The modular, dual-lumen cannula system has an outer drainage cannula and an inner return cannula that is moveable with respect to the outer drainage cannula. By enabling movement of the inner return cannula with respect to the outer drainage cannula, a distance between return outlet ports at the distal end of the return cannula and drainage ports at the distal end of the drainage cannula may be manually adjusted. Such adjustable distance allows for optimal positioning of both the drainage and return ports that are particularly adapted to an individual patient’s physiology, in turn enabling optimal fluid flow characteristics to be achieved regardless of that patient physiology.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a bidirectional intravascular cannula, or catheter, that is configured to provide and return blood in a patient bidirectionally. The bidirectional intravascular cannula is configured to reduce or obviate the need for a second cannula, such as currently available unidirectional cannulae, to be placed in a second or opposite direction of flow. Users would include cardiac surgeons, intensivists, vascular surgeons, ER doctors, IR doctors and cardiologist who use peripheral cannulation for ECLS or cardiopulmonary bypass. The cannula allows continued flow to a patient's limb even with the cannula proximally in the vessel. The cannula further allows larger size cannula to be placed without the need for additional distal catheter placement.
