    Abstract: An aerosol valve construction comprising a tubular valve housing in which there is axially movable a valve stem cooperable with a seat in the housing. The valve stem is connected, in one embodiment of the invention, to an actuator button which is carried by an exterior resilient diaphragm having an outwardly crowned shape. Pressing the depress button flattens the diaphragm and depresses the valve stem, effecting an opening of the valve whereby product is discharged through an orifice in the button. The diaphragm tends to restore itself to the full crown shape due to its elasticity and also due to the pressure of product on its underside. When depressing force is removed from the button, the return of the diaphragm raises the valve stem and shuts off the valve. In other embodiments of the invention the resilient diaphragm which carries the depress button has a tubular portion acting as the valve housing and which is provided with a valve seat. The valve stem which extends into the valve housing and which is cooperable with the valve seat, is stationarily mounted. When the depress button is forced downward, flattening the diaphragm, it shifts downward the valve housing (portion of the diaphragm) while the valve stem remains stationary. This results in an opening of the valve. The valve closes when downward force is removed from the button, enabling the diaphragm to raise and restore itself to the original crowned shape or configuration. By use of the resilient crowned diaphragm to restore the valve to the closed position there is not needed the usual helical valve return spring which has been heretofore almost universally used.

    Abstract: A dispenser comprising a can containing pressurized liquid and having a valve to control the discharge. Connected with the valve and disposed inside the can is a second valve and a collapsible container, the latter having flexible walls and a watery product therein such as hydrogen peroxide which is pressurized due to the pressure existing against the flexible container walls. The second valve controls the outflow of the watery product from the container as effected by the pressure against the walls thereof. In this environment the invention provides, within the said container and connected to the second valve, a capillary tube constituting a discharge passage. The capillary tube may constitute a dip tube, and has the effect of smoothing out the rate of discharge of the watery product from the container under conditions of different pressures.

    Abstract: A tilting type dispensing valve comprising a cup-shaped valve housing which is covered by a resilient upper annular dischargevalve seat. A hollow valve stem extends through the valve seat and carries an annular valve shoulder inside the housing. The shoulder is engageable with the seat to close off the discharge. Within the housing there is a supporting boss constituting a second valving means on the valve stem, said boss being located below the valve shoulder and being engageable with a recessed lower annular valve seat in an opposite wall of the valve housing to both normally maintain the valve shoulder and upper seat engaged whereby the upper valve is closed, and to simultaneously close the recessed lower valve seat. The stem can be tilted, however, because the shoulder can compress a localized area of the upper valve seat. This separates another portion of the shoulder from the seat whereby liquid can flow from the housing, out through the hollow valve stem. The tilting of the stem also uncovers the lower valve seat. A container connected to the lower valve seat can empty into the valve housing, as well as a large container enclosing the housing, which discharges into the housing through a hole provided in a wall of the housing. Mixing of the liquids occurs in the valve housing.
