    Abstract: A display system including a display, a cover layer, an active cell, an opaque print, an adhesive film and an anti-reflective film. The display may generate an optical signal. The cover layer may cover the display and has a first and second surface. The optical signal may pass through the second surface and out the first surface. The active cell may be adjacent to the second surface and includes conductive planes configured to vary a transmission of the optical signal in response to a signal. The opaque print may be adjacent the active cell and has a clear area aligned with the display. The clear area may be smaller than the display. The adhesive film may be adjacent to the active cell, aligned with the clear area, and transmits the optical signal. The anti-reflective film may be attached to the adhesive film and receives the optical signal from the display.

    Abstract: A floating-information display includes a first quarter-wave retarder disposed on a side of an optical plate. A reflective polarizer is disposed between the first quarter-wave retarder and the optical plate. A first display is configured to transmit a first image along a first axis through the first quarter-wave retarder to the reflective polarizer. The reflective polarizer redirects the first image along a second axis through the first quarter-wave retarder toward a viewer. The first image appears to the viewer to be oriented normal to the second axis and at a first location. A second display is configured to transmit a second image to the optical plate. The second image is transferred through the first quarter-wave retarder along the second axis toward the viewer. The second image appears to the viewer to be oriented normal to the second axis and at a second location.

    Abstract: A dimmable display lens system and method is provided which includes a display element configured to emit light. The system and method also includes a dimmable lens disposed in the direction of light emission of the display element and configured to increase the transmission of light emitted by the display through the dimmable lens. The dimmable lens also includes a control system configured to increase the transmission of light emitted by the display according to a plurality of light transmission incremental steps. The control system includes a feedback control system configured to adjust the transmission of light through the dimmable lens based at least on the measured values of an ambient light sensor and a forward looking light sensor.
