Abstract: A method and a device for a vehicle configured for automatic longitudinal guidance. The method involves detecting a guide vehicle, the guide vehicle being a vehicle travelling directly in front of the vehicle; determining a current state from at least two states which describe a current reaction of the vehicle to the guide vehicle; and displaying the current state in animated form on a display.
