摘要: A scroll compressor is positioned in a housing having an end cap defining an oil sump. A shaft extends towards the oil sump and has an oil pick-up tube. A magnet is positioned on the end cap through a number of embodiments which properly position the magnet adjacent to the oil pick-up tube. In one embodiment a protrusion extends upwardly from the end cap and into an inner periphery of the magnet to position the magnet.

摘要: A scroll compressor (10) is disclosed which incorporates a magnet (88) in a depression (90) formed in the lower shell (12) by forming a coined surface (82). The depression forms a side wall (92) which confines the magnet therein so that no additional fastening mechanism is required. The magnet is preferably a ring magnet (88) which is centered about the rotational axis of the drive shaft (40) and near the end of the oil pick-up tube (62) so that oil passes close to the magnet (88) as it enters the oil pick-up tube. The magnet separates magnetic debris, such as metal filings, from the oil. In another embodiment, a pair of magnets (112) can be positioned in multiple coined surfaces on the lower shell.

摘要: A linear compressor is provided. The linear compressor includes a casing that defines a chamber and a piston slidably received within the chamber of the casing. A driving coil is configured for selectively urging the piston to slide within the chamber of the casing. An electro-magnetic spring is configured for urging the piston towards a default position when the piston is positioned away from the default position. The electro-magnetic spring can permit the linear compressor to operate at a resonant condition.

摘要: A valve for selectively allowing the return of oil from a discharge plenum to a suction plenum includes a passage which is selectively opened or blocked by a valve spool. The valve spool sees a pressure from a discharge pressure location upstream of a discharge check valve on one face, and a discharge pressure from a discharge plenum on an opposed face. While the compressor is running, the two pressures should be relatively equal. The face which sees the pressure from the chamber upstream of the check valve is larger than the face which sees the pressure from the discharge plenum. Thus, when the compressor is running, the valve spool is biased to a first position at which it allows oil return from the discharge plenum to the suction plenum. However, upon shutdown of the compressor, the pressure in the chamber upstream of the discharge valve drops. The valve spool will be driven to a second position at which it blocks communication for oil return.

摘要: A thermostat for sensing an unduly high temperature in a sealed compressor, which is a scroll compressor in the disclosed embodiment, extends through the housing of the sealed compressor into the body of a non-orbiting scroll. Since the thermostat extends through the housing, the wires need not be sealed as they extend from the housing. Still, the thermostat is positioned close to the compression chambers and at a location that will quickly heat when undesirable conditions exist within the sealed compressor. In this manner, the present invention is able to rapidly respond to an undesirable situation to allow a system control to have an indication of the undesired condition.

摘要: A scroll compressor has a valve normally closed during forward operation of the scroll compressor. Upon reverse rotation, force imbalances allow the valve to open and communicate a chamber downstream of a check valve to a chamber upstream of the check valve. By communicating these two chambers, the detrimental effects of reverse rotation are reduced or eliminated. Two valve embodiments are disclosed. One embodiment also relieves unduly high discharge pressures. In a third embodiment, a pressure relief valve is provided to prevent desirably high pressure ratios or pressure differentials.

摘要: One or more eccentrically located pressure pockets are defined between the orbiting scroll and a seal plate. The seal plate and pockets rotate while the orbiting scroll orbits. The pressure in the pockets provide a restoring moment relative to the overturning moment provided by the gas forces in addition to providing an axial bias for axial compliance. Because the moment is balanced, a reduced axial biasing force is necessary and thereby wear and friction losses are reduced. In the preferred embodiment, the seal plate is integral with the slider block.

摘要: A scroll-type hermetic compressor is disclosed including within a hermetically sealed housing a fixed scroll member, an orbiting scroll member, a main bearing frame member, and a crankshaft. An oil sump is located in a discharge pressure chamber in the housing. The crankshaft is journalled by bearings in the frame member and the orbiting scroll member. A centrifugal oil pump supplies lubricating oil from the sump to the bearings through an axial passageway in the crankshaft. A vent allows the pumped oil to return to the sump to reduce leakage of oil and refrigerant into regions at suction pressure.
