    摘要： A smart connector system includes a machine connector disposed on a face of a surgical machine, an illumination ring located on the face of the surgical machine and disposed around a periphery of the machine connector, an RFID reader antenna located in close proximity to the machine connector and the face of the surgical machine, and an accessory connector adapted to couple with the machine connector. The accessory connector has an RFID tag antenna and is capable of attaching a tool to the surgical machine. When the accessory connector is brought within close proximity to the machine connector, a communications connection is established between the RFID tag antenna and the RFID reader antenna.

    摘要： In accordance with the present invention, a vending machine includes a number of failure control devices that monitor and control the functioning of the various components in the vending machine to ensure uniform quality of food products to be sold to a customer. One specific embodiment includes plurality of oven failure control devices, a freezer failure control device and a power failure control device. When a microcontroller in the vending machine determines the occurrence of a failure, the microcontroller displays a failure message on a customer display and discontinues vending food until the failure is corrected, for example, by an operator. In another aspect of this invention, the vending machine includes a mechanism for operating a door of a refrigeration compartment of the vending machine. The mechanism includes a motor driven rotary link coupled to a roller that moves in a slot of the door.

    摘要： A cassette having an elastomeric sheet that is bonded or mechanically attached to a rigid substrate. A flow channel is molded into the rigid substrate that corresponds to a flow channel molded into the elastomeric sheet. The cassette is used in combination with a peristaltic pump having pump head rollers that are mounted radially from the axis of rotation of the pump motor so as to compress the elastomeric flow channels against the rigid substrate during operation. The flow channels molded into the rigid substrate have smooth, fluid lines free from sharp edges and abrupt direction changes and correspond with the fluid channels molded into the elastomeric sheet so as to provide a transition region with a relatively constant cross-section over its entire length that approximates the cross-sectional area of the flow channels molded into the rigid substrate and the fluid channel molded into the elastomeric sheet so that the entire fluid path is of relatively constant cross-sectional area.

    摘要： Charges on a photoreceptor dissipate quickly before a latent image enters the development stage of the machine where the image is developed. The photoreceptor's charge potential before entering the developer is called the dark development potential. In order to control the photoreceptor's dark development potential, an adaptive cycle is used to predict the cycle-down effects on the photoreceptor. Charge potential measurements are obtained during the normal print runs and the actual values are used to control the subsequent charging steps. Therefore, the process adapts to the next charging cycle based on the results of the present charging cycle. The method and apparatus adaptively predict the behavior and thereby account for the cycle-down effects when charging the photoreceptor. The method recognizes that in spite of the various parameters that can effect the dark developing potential during cycle-down, the ratio of the variation of the dark developing potential with respect to the predicted steady-state potential is generally constant from one charging cycle to the next. By using a method of deviation ratios, an adaptive prediction of the dark developing potential and also minimized effects due to errors in predicting the level of steady-state of the dark developing potential are achieved.
