    摘要: A hinge assembly includes a pivoting body attached to a base with a front surface. The pivoting body has a front end and rear end and at least one friction reducing member biased rearwardly against the front surface of the body. The friction reducing member is retractable relative to the pivoting body substantially parallel to the direction of the bias. The front surface has an inclined portion and an apex. When the pivoting body is in a rest position the at least one friction reducing member is maintained at the apex. The pivoting body is pivotable in a first direction to an activation that causes the friction reducing member to roll along the inclined portion with the friction reducing member retracting in the forward direction against the bias. When force is removed from the pivoting body in the activation position, the bias against the contoured front surface returns the pivoting body to the rest position via indirect forces.

    摘要: The control panel (14) and display (16) of a cart-borne ultrasound system (10) are support by a lift (30) which can be controlled to allow the control panel and display to be raised, lowered, and rotated. The lift has a first pivot elbow (70) mounted to the ultrasound system cart and a second pivot elbow (70) on which the control panel and display are mounted. A four-bar linkage is coupled between the pivot elbows which enables to control panel and display to be raised and lowered while maintaining the inclination of the control panel. When a control button (26) on the handle (24) of the control panel is depressed the control panel and display can be freely raised, lowered and rotated. When the control button is released the pivot elbows and four-bar linkages are locked in their current positions.

    摘要: A rocker switch assembly and method includes a housing having an interior cavity for locating electronic components and a plunger member movably located during actuation within the interior cavity of the housing. The plunger member is coupled to at least one contact support. The switch assembly further comprises at least one terminal fixed within the housing. The at least one terminal corresponding with the at least one contact that engages or disengages with the terminal during actuation. A lever structure is pivotly coupled to the housing by a fulcrum fixedly attached to the housing. The lever structure comprises a lever having an upper side for receiving an external force and a lower side for engaging a head on the plunger member to generate actuation of the rocker switch during pivotal rotation of the lever.

    摘要: A plush toy having electronics therein for interacting with a user includes a non-rigid electrical component for detecting deformation thereof. The component, also referred to as a hug sensor, has an electrically conductive and compressible material and is movable from a rest, non-compressed position towards a compressed position by way of the application of an external force thereon (e.g., a hug or squeeze). The hug sensor has a resistance there across that is monitored by a microprocessor. Compression of the hug sensor causes changes in the resistance across the hug sensor. Changes in the detected resistance across the hug sensor result in activation of responses (e.g., playing of audio and/or movement). Varying responses may be activated as a result of varying changes in resistance.

The method includes communicating a secure wireless signal from a footswitch enclosure to a footswitch receiver coupled to the body scanning device in response to an actuation of a footswitch zone carried on a footswitch enclosure. Additionally, a wireless signal is communicated from a handswitch enclosure in response to an actuation of a handswitch zone and communicated to a handswitch receiver located in the footswitch enclosure. The wireless signal is then communicated from the footswitch enclosure to the footswitch receiver coupled to the body-scanning device to enable an operator to control the body-scanning device using the handswitch or the footswitch.

    摘要: An apparatus for triggering, changing or ending device functions by means of foot movements can include a resting surface for the sole of a foot and at least one switch, arranged in the region of the resting surface and at a fixed distance from the resting surface, for closing or opening an electrical or control circuit. An actuating element can be associated with the switch to initiate its switching functions. The apparatus can also include a means for transmitting foot movements to the actuating element. The switch can be a proximity switch and the actuating element can be mounted such that it can move in a direction following the respective foot movement, with the result that, owing to the foot movement, the actuating element can be brought closer to the proximity switch therefore triggering the switching function.
