摘要： A daughter card for mounting to an adapter card, wherein the daughter card includes adapter card connectors for mounting to the adapter card and also an edge connector for insertion directly into a computer slot so that the daughter card may also function as a stand-alone card. The daughter card is both mechanically and electrically compliant as an independent PCI add-in card and includes a PCI edge connector for insertion directly into a PCI slot. This provides additional modularity since the daughter card can be purchased and configured as a separate and independent PCI adapter card as well as for mating to a host adapter card to provide extra functionality to the host adapter card. In addition, since the daughter card can be directly inserted into the PCI bus, the daughter card provides greater component access and probing for testing. Further, the daughter card can be tested independently of the host adapter card during manufacturing functional test, thus providing more reliable testing.

摘要： An apparatus for the suspension of computer expansion cards away from a system planar in a computer chassis. The apparatus includes a card, an interface plate secured to the card, the interface plate having an opening, and a hanger extending from the chassis such that the hanger engages the interface plate through the opening to support the card away from the planar when the card is disconnected from the planar. The opening in the interface plate may have a first portion and a second portion, where the hanger engages the interface plate through the first portion of the opening and secures the interface plate to the chassis when the card is connected to the planar, and the hanger engages the interface plate through the second portion of the opening to support the card away from the planar when the card is disconnected from the planar. Alternatively, the interface plate may be omitted with the opening being placed in the expansion card.

摘要： A computer system having a computer housing, a printed circuit board within the housing having at least one connector for receiving an expansion card, a power control switch for controlling power to the connector, and an actuator device that is movably coupled to the printed circuit board so that movement of the actuator relative to the printed circuit board causes the actuator to activate the power control switch. The actuator is further capable of transmitting light emitted from a connector status indicator on the printed circuit board from a first point along the length of the actuator to a second point along its length.

摘要： A method of determining the angular position, rotational speed, and/or acceleration of a rotatable member, including: providing on the rotatable member an annular magnetic source generating tangential, radial, and axial magnetic flux field components; detecting, with a directional magnetometer having a toroidal core and two secondary output windings thereon, at a location radially spaced from the magnetic source, in proximity to the magnetic source, the amplitude(s) and/or change of amplitude(s) of one or more of the magnetic flux field components, and providing outputs indicative thereof; modifying the outputs, to equalize measured peak amplitudes of the magnetic flux field components and/or to compensate for environmental distortion thereof, by one or more methods selected from the group consisting of: (1) orienting the toroidal core such that the toroidal core lies in a plane at an angle between the plane of the annular magnetic source and a plane perpendicular to the plane of the annular magnetic source, (2) providing the secondary output windings with unequal numbers of turns, and (3) attentuating one of the outputs; and determining from the outputs the angular position, rotational speed, and/or acceleration of the rotatable member.
