    摘要: System and method for optically verified sample authentication are described herein. An example system includes a detection device to authenticate a sample and to return a positive authentication result if the sample is authentic and return a negative authentication result if the sample is not authentic, the detection device containing an optical emitter to emit a series of pulses of light in a first sequential pattern, a smartphone in close proximity to and facing the detection device and the sample, the smartphone containing a camera to detect the first sequential pattern of light, and a database to store data from the smartphone, wherein the optical emitter emits the first sequential pattern of light before the detection device authenticates the sample, the smartphone captures a first image of the detection device after the smartphone detects the first sequential pattern of light emitted by the optical emitter, and the smartphone transmits first data to the database after the detection device authenticates the sample.

An example method includes illuminating a first phosphor layer on a substrate with light having a first wavelength, wherein the first phosphor layer has luminescent properties such that when it is illuminated by light having the first wavelength, it emits light having a second wavelength, the first phosphor layer is divided into a first two-dimensional grid of cells arranged in a first spatial pattern, wherein each cell of the first phosphor layer corresponds to one bit of an identification code, a first portion of the first phosphor layer is removed from a first number of cells of the first two-dimensional grid of cells to expose the substrate for the first number of cells, capturing a first image of the light emitted by the first phosphor layer having the second wavelength, determining whether the first phosphor layer is authentic based on the first image, and determining the identification code based on the first image.

An example apparatus includes an illuminating source to illuminate a pattern on a sample with first infrared light having a peak wavelength at a first wavelength, wherein the pattern is printed with ink that has luminescent properties such that when the pattern is illuminated by infrared light containing the first wavelength, the pattern emits second infrared light having a peak wavelength at a second wavelength, a filter adjacent to the illuminating source, wherein the filter passes the second infrared light and the filter does not pass the first infrared light, a photo element in close proximity to the filter such that the second infrared light that passes through the filter illuminates the photo element, wherein the photo element detects the second infrared light and captures an image of the pattern, and a display to display the image captured by the photo element.
