    Abstract: An air cargo container with features for reducing damage caused by a bomb explosion. The container has a venting device which faces a fuselage wall of an airplane when the container is stowed. An explosion propels the venting device to pierce the fuselage wall of the airplane in the event of an explosion. This creates a hole which vents the shock waves and gas from the explosion.

    Abstract: A device for directing the flow of an atomized slurry from the ejection orifice of an atomizer housing which is composed of a cylindrical liner bushing made of a wear-resistant material and a cylindrical sleeve bushing designed to support the liner bushing within the ejection orifice of the atomizer housing. The geometries of the liner and sleeve bushings form an annular, recessed shoulder at the discharge end of the bushings During rotation of the atomizer, turbulent flow eddy currents pack slurry media into this shoulder. The liner bushing is bonded in the sleeve bushing under compression to create a residual preload opposing the centrifugal force generated by rotation of the atomizer housing.

    Abstract: A method of detecting cracks and structural separations in the fuselage of an aircraft utilizes a highly detectable gas such as chlorofluorocarbon. The gas will be pumped into the interior of the fuselage until the fuselage reaches a pressure that occurs during normal flight operations. A detector will then be moved over the skin of the fuselage. The detector is of a type that will detect minute amounts of any gas escaping through cracks and structural separations in the fuselage. The detector has an entrapment shoe which entraps any gas that might be bleeding off through a tiny crack. The detector has an alarm circuit which provides an alarm to the operator.
