摘要: A parenteral injection device comprises a housing defining an internal cavity and an output, a first reservoir disposed within the internal cavity, where the first reservoir defines a first chamber that is configured to store a drug and is in fluid communication with the output, a first drive mechanism to selectively force the drug from the first chamber, and a second reservoir disposed within the internal cavity, wherein the second reservoir defines a second chamber that is configured to store a gas and is in fluid communication with the output. The injection device further comprises a second drive mechanism to selectively force the gas from the second chamber, and a controller in signal communication with the first and second drive mechanisms, such that the controller is configured to selectively direct the first and second drive mechanisms to force the drug and gas from the first and second chambers, respectively, to the output in a predetermined sequence.

摘要: A conventional syringe defines a longitudinal axis and includes a syringe barrel having a syringe barrel flange laterally extending from an open proximal end of the syringe barrel and a plunger advanceable into the syringe barrel. A rotatable finger flange for such a syringe includes identical first and second flange components, each having an attachment member configured to releasably engage the syringe barrel flange and/or the other flange component, and a flange member laterally extending therefrom. The first and second flange component are engageable and rotatable relative to one another about the longitudinal axis between a non-use position, wherein the first flange member overlies the second flange member to reduce the finger flange footprint, and a use position, wherein the first flange member and the second flange member are angularly spaced apart from one another to provide a finger flange having a greater lateral extent than the syringe barrel flange.

摘要: A recoil reducing needle shield for covering a drug container with a needle includes an outer shell, including an upper portion, a lower portion, and at least one flexible interface positioned therebetween, defining a fulcrum. Radially inward flexing of the upper portion causes radially outward flexing of the lower portion about the flexible interface. An inner cover includes an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and a needle cavity defined therein for receiving a portion of the drug container including the needle. At least a portion of the inner cover is disposed within the outer shell. The open proximal end of the inner cover is coupled to the lower portion of the outer shell, such that radially outward flexing of the lower portion stretches the open proximal end of the inner cover, thereby reducing an initial pull-off force required to remove the needle shield from the drug container.

摘要: A needle safety device has an outer tube within which a syringe barrel from which a cannula extends is slideably receivable. A collar in the outer tube is moveable relative thereto and rotatably attachable to the distal end of the barrel. A force member biases the outer tube in a distal direction. A cannula shield able to receive the cannula therein is in the outer tube. The cannula shield is fixedly attached to a cap removably attached to the outer tube. A track is formed in the inner surface of the outer tube. A pin extending radially outwardly from the collar slidingly engages the track. In a pre-injection position, the cannula is entirely within the outer tube. In a full-insertion position, the cannula extends beyond the outer tube. In a locked position, the cannula is irreversibly retained entirely within the outer tube.

摘要: A method of detecting and/or tracking use of a drug delivery device is disclosed. The drug delivery device includes a machine readable code and a visual indicator, and has pre-use and used states, such that use of the drug delivery device triggers a transition from the pre-use to the used state. The visual indicator has a first state when the drug delivery device is in the pre-use state and a different second state when the drug delivery device is in the used state. The method includes enabling a user device having an image sensor to capture an image of the drug delivery device, determining, by the user device processor from the captured image, whether the visual indicator of the drug delivery device is in the second state, and obtaining, by the processor, information from the machine readable code when the visual indicator is determined to be in the second state.
