摘要: An expandable implant having superior and inferior endplates disposed on opposite sides of a core is disclosed. The superior endplate may include a first screw engagement surface disposed on a proximal end thereof and the inferior endplate may include a second screw engagement surface disposed on a proximal end thereof. A pin may extend through corresponding pin apertures of the superior endplate, the inferior endplate, and the core. In various embodiments, the superior endplate and inferior endplate are hingedly connected to the core via the pin. The implant may include a locking screw movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the locking screw may urge an engagement surface of the superior endplate and inferior endplate such that corresponding interior surfaces of the superior and inferior endplates frictionally engage against a corresponding exterior surface of the core.

摘要: An interbody system including an implant and a tool for inserting and expanding the medical implant and locking the implant in place is disclosed. The medical implant may include an expandable body defined by a superior endplate and an inferior endplate that are hingedly coupled and may be expanded and lordosed. The superior and inferior endplate may include radially disposed and opposed surfaces that mate and/or directly contact each other when a locking screw is threaded through a screw aperture. The implant may include a threaded breakoff screw disposed in the threaded screw aperture and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, for example. In the locked position, the threaded locking screw may urge the distal engagement surface of the first core into direct contact with the proximal engagement surface of the second core. When broken, the breakoff screw may comprise a recessed fracture surface.

摘要: An expandable implant may include an expandable body defined by a superior endplate and an inferior endplate that are hingedly coupled and may be expanded and lordosed by an external surgical tool. The superior endplate may include a first core having a distal engagement surface and the inferior endplate may a second core having a proximal engagement surface and a threaded screw aperture. The implant may include a threaded locking screw disposed in the threaded screw aperture and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, for example. In the locked position, the threaded locking screw may urge the distal engagement surface of the first core into direct contact with the proximal engagement surface of the second core. The implant may include a pair of mounting tangs that may be sheared off and/or recesses. The locking screw may be a break-off screw.

摘要: A unibody implant movable between an expanded position and a contracted position is disclosed. The unibody implant may include a unitary expandable body defined by an inferior portion and a superior portion that are connected together. In various embodiments, a set screw may be rotatably supported by the body and configured to move a plug having a first inclined surface facing the distal side. In various embodiments, the set screw may be movable in the longitudinal direction towards the distal side upon rotation of the set screw along the rotation axis, for example. In various embodiments, movement of the set screw urges the plug against the superior portion thereby expanding a vertical distance between the superior and inferior sides of the body. In some embodiments, the plug may include a stabilizing element configured to transfer compressive forces between the superior portion and inferior portion.
