    摘要: A system and a method is disclosed that provides that access to a communications medium that is suitable for allowing HPNA v2-formatted frames in a centralized manner. A list of sessions in enhanced STAs using the communications medium is maintained at a Media Control Station (MC STA). Each enhanced STA gains access to the communications medium in a centralized manner. A message is transmitted from the MC STA to a selected non-MC STA. The transmitted message is transmitted with a highest physical layer priority level available in a first HPNA v2-formatted frame. After the message is received at a non-MC STA, the non-MC STA transmits a reply message to the MC STA in response to the received message that is transmitted at the highest physical layer priority level available in a second HPNA v2-formatted frame.

A blocking signal, such as a sine wave signal and a cosine wave signal, is transmitted during at least one IFG between enhanced frames to mask the presence of the IFG to a non-enhanced STA. Alternatively, the blocking signal can be transmitted during at least one reply message. Contention-free access to the communications medium is also provided by transmitting messages in a highest priority level available in an HPNA v2 frame.

Access to the communications medium is then provided for at least one station (STA) during the contention-free portion of a frame having timing to allow the SIFG portion.

    摘要: Nodes in a wireless network participate in either point-to-multipoint (PMP) or MANET/mesh communications with other nodes on one or more shared channels of the network. A first or base station node transmits a downlink signal having a time frame structure of determined duration to a number of second or subscriber nodes. Portions of the frame structure establish (i) first time periods during which messages are transmitted from the first node to the second nodes, and (ii) second time periods during which messages are transmitted from the second nodes to the first node, using the PMP protocol on one or more shared channels or subchannels of the network. Other portions of the time frame structure establish third time periods during which nodes communicate with one another using the MANET/mesh protocol on the shared channels or subchannels, while avoiding interference with messages transmitted under the PMP protocol.
