摘要： A fastening assembly for use in attaching articles to soft materials such as gypsum based and light weight concrete roofing. The assembly includes an anchoring element which has a high thread and an axial bore in one end. The thread has an included angle of less than 45.degree. and terminates in a sharp edge at the free end of the anchoring element. A headed screw is driven into the bore and becomes fixed to the anchoring element. A flange is integrally molded and frangibly connected to the bored end of the anchoring element, and becomes a washer upon breaking away therefrom.

摘要： A fastener and a nosepiece for use in attaching lath to a support. The fastener includes a screw and a spacing element, in which the spacing element is adapted to threadingly penetrate the lath and abut the support. The lath is retained between the spacing element and the head of the screw and is thereby held away from the support in order to allow plaster to properly extrude through openings in the lath. The nosepiece is attachable to a driving tool and has rigid prongs which reach through openings in the lath. Travel of a bit on the driving tool is limited so that automatic disengagement occurs to prevent over-driving of the screw. The prongs ensure that the lath is held a predetermined distance from the support.

摘要： A threaded insert for drywall having an externally threaded portion and an unthreaded drilling portion of generally equal lengths. The insert is adapted to be installed in a single step with the use of a hand powered screwdriver. A low profile flange at the upper end spaced a distance from the threads allows the insert to be installed flush with the surface of the drywall. Two embodiments are disclosed, one of molded zinc and the other of plastic material. Both embodiments include a drilling portion which can be deflected laterally upon the insertion of a screw therethrough, allowing the use of a single moderate length screw for attaching articles of various thicknesses. The insert eliminates the need to pre-drill a hole with a separate tool.

The base further may include a lower portion and an accessory portion between the upper ledge portion and the lower portion. The system further may include at least one accessory configured to engage the accessory portion. The system also may include at least one shelf or cover configured to couple to the base.

The tang may be being heat treated or work hardened to harden the tang and facilitate its detachment for non-friable substrate applications. Work hardening may be accomplished, for example, by heating and quenching the tang to increase both its hardness and its brittleness to a level that allows the tang to be broken off with an impact force but not when inserted into a friable substrate so that the holder retains greater functionality.

摘要： An anchor system for a hollow wall or ceiling includes an anchor portion having a flange and a penetrating portion extending from a rear surface of the flange. The penetration portion has a fixed sleeve extending from the rear surface of the flange and a pivoting locking leg connected to the fixed sleeve by a hinge. The fixed sleeve has a non-round opening extending longitudinally therethrough and the pivoting locking leg has a stub extending from a rear surface thereof to retain the penetrating portion rigid as the anchor is inserted into the wall or ceiling. A pin portion has a body including a flexible shaft and an actuating element extending transversely from an end of the shaft. The shaft tapers, near the actuating element toward the actuating element to define a transverse dimension. The actuating element has a heel at about a rear surface thereof When the pin is inserted into the opening, the actuating portion contacts the stub to separate the pivoting locking leg from the fixed sleeve portion and to pivot the pivoting locking leg portion toward an inner surface of the wall or ceiling. Rotating the pin engages the actuating element at the heel with the stub to lock the leg in place and the shaft flexes to accommodate rotation of the leg more than or less than 90 degrees to secure the leg against the inner surface.
