A condition handling method and means capable of handling programs written in a plurality computer programming languages is created by a set of routines which implement the Common Condition Handling (CCH) function. These routines have entry points which are declared as external or entry variables which enables application programs to link to them. The compilers and application programs can then interact with the condition handling process by calling or branching to the entry points in the common condition handling code when the program is executing. Language specific condition handling routines and user condition handlers are invoked using a last-in-first-out (LIFO) queue to associate the handlers with the current stack frame. Any handler may respond to the CCH with one of three types of requests: Resume, Percolate, and Promote. A separate means is provided for registering Exit Handlers and to move the resume cursor.

A laser aiming apparatus for a golf club putter is disclosed. The putter includes a head having a transversely extending generally planar front face and a generally planar rear portion formed substantially parallel to the front face and spaced apart therefrom. An electrically conductive laser housing having a laser module mounted therein is removably affixed to the head. The head is clamped between an alignment surface formed in the housing which engages the front face and a clamping element affixed to the housing which provides biased contact against the rear portion such that a laser beam emitted by the laser module is aimed in a horizontal direction substantially perpendicular to the front face. A player employs the laser beam to properly align the club face during putting practice. The apparatus includes a conductive switch element in sliding biased contact with the conductive housing for closing an electrical circuit which powers the laser module.

An intrusion detection system includes a remote controller activated by a user transmitting a particular RF carrier signal to a self-contained monitor. The self-contained monitor is energized by a primary power source and comprises an RF receiver circuit for receiving the particular RF carrier signal, a tuning code circuit for inputting a tuning code, a nonvolatile memory circuit for storing the tuning code which makes the RF receiver circuit responsive to the particular RF carrier signal, a volatile memory circuit having an armed state and a disarmed state, a motion detector for detecting an intruder in the predetermined space, a timing circuit for measuring a preset period of time and a responder. The user switches the volatile memory circuit from the disarmed state to the armed state by activating the remote controller. The volatile memory circuit is switched from the armed state to the disarmed state by either the volatile memory circuit sensing an interruption in primary power lasting longer than the preset period of time or by the motion detector detecting an intruder. The user tests the state of the volatile memory circuit by manipulating the remote controller to prompt a response from the responder indicating whether the volatile memory circuit is in the armed state or the disarmed state. A response indicating that an intrusion event has occurred warns the user not to enter the predetermined space to avoid the possibility of inadvertently confronting a remaining intruder.

The lower portion includes structure for removably affixing and aligning the support member on selected golf apparatus. Also included in the self-contained monitor and accessible to the user is a code transfer circuit for transferring the last code set on the code setting switch into the nonvolatile memory circuit making the self-contained monitor responsive to the particular RF carrier signal. The user can change the last code set on the code setting switch without effecting the last code transferred into the nonvolatile memory circuit so that the intruder cannot determine the last code which makes the self-contained monitor responsive to the authorized remote controller.

A self-contained monitor including a volatile memory circuit having an armed and a disarmed state, a nonvolatile memory circuit, a responder and an intrusion detector is disposed in a predetermined space to sense and report an intrusion therein. A primary power source having momentary and sustained power interruptions associated therewith energizes the self-contained monitor. A short term energy storage circuit provides secondary power to the volatile memory circuit communicating therewith and with the primary power source so that momentary power interruptions do not result in the volatile memory circuit sensing a loss of power. The volatile memory circuit is switched from the armed to the disarmed state by either the sensing of the intrusion or by the sensing of at least one sustained power interruption. A user employs a remote controller to transmit an RF test signal to remotely test the state of the volatile memory circuit. A tuning code relating to the RF test signal is stored in the nonvolatile memory circuit which makes the monitor responsive to the RF test signal. A test response is generated by the responder prompted by the RF test signal when the volatile memory circuit is in the armed state.
