摘要:
An apparatus for loading bales of agricultural products into a protective sheath. The apparatus includes a mobile framework adaptable at one end for connection with a vehicle. A detachable bale bagger is received at an end opposite the vehicle and supports a corrugation of protective sheath. In an attached mode, the apparatus is adaptable to retrieve, transport, handle and sheath bales of agricultural products. A lifting unit is adapted to retrieve bales from a location and mount them in an end-to-end fashion along parallel rails of the mobile framework. As bales are individually retrieved and loaded, a bale moving device movably connected to the mobile framework, rearwardly displaces the incoming bales a distance along parallel rails so as to make space for the next bale. Once the mobile framework is loaded with bales, the apparatus is transported to a location suitable for storage. Located at a storage site, a bale bagger is oriented in a stationary engaging position for connection with the mobile framework and includes an open-ended drum supporting a corrugation of protective sheath. The mobile framework, containing a plurality of bales, approaches the stationary bale bagger in a reverse orientation such that a first and a second attachment unit respectively located thereon, are aligned for connection. In the attached mode, the bale moving device is adapted to move the plurality of bales rearwardly along the mobile framework and through the open-ended drum of the bale bagger. Simultaneous with the rearward displacement of the bales, the vehicle pulls the apparatus forwardly such that the corrugation of protective sheath can be extended a distance to receive the incoming bale as it is passed through the open-ended drum. The bale bagger is attachable to the mobile framework such that it can be secured in an upright position and safely transported a distance when the framework is in operable connection with a vehicle.

A compressed (e.g. accordian pleated) assembly of tubular sheet material (preferably plastic material), is deployed to form an extended tube by a device that consists essentially of an arched rigid framework (curved, triangular, rectangular, or any other shaped arch suited to the shape of the goods to be stored) with a skin of sheet metal or fiberglass extending over its upper part. The tubular sheet material can be deployed into an extended tube at the rear of the device by pulling the latter forwardly along the ground, the free end of the tube having been suitably anchored at the starting location. This tube deployment can be combined with a series of loading operations whereby goods to be stored, e.g. cylindrical or large square bales of forage, are inserted from the front of the device through the arched framework and onto a lower portion of the extended tube as it is formed. This lower portion rests on the ground in a loading area beneath a rearwardly extending overhang of the framework. When the goods to be stored are bales, they are preferably arranged in a row along the tube and in a side-by-side and/or stacked relationship, with cylindrical bales being arranged in a triangular relationship.

A round bale handler comprises a frame with a rear member, and a spike. The spike has a pointed front end to penetrate the round bale, and a rear end pivotally connected to the frame so that the spike is swingable between forward and sideways positions. The spike is of a sufficient length such that a front portion of it can penetrate through the axis of the bale and extend substantially along the entire length of it. Stop means are provided for releasably retaining the spike in the forward position and preventing it from swinging beyond each sideways position. A method of using the handler is also disclosed.

A prefabricated laboratory unit is provided having walls, a floor and a ceiling forming an integral transportable unit. To provide a vibration-free mounting for laboratory apparatus within the laboratory the floor (4) of the unit has a hole (17) therein through which a prepared foundation (18) is exposed. Mounted on the floor of the unit above the hole (17) is a plinth (15) which is lowerable through the hole when the laboratory is in position onto the prepared foundation by means of jacks (16). The plinth provides a vibration-free mounting for the apparatus. Preferably the laboratory is fitted out as a self-contained octane analyzer unit comprising a reference engine mounted on the plinth and also housing a control console and comparator unit for the comparison of octane ratings during inline gasoline blending.

A blade sheathing device for loading bales of an agricultural product, e.g. silage, into an elongated, flexible bag, comprises a framework movable along the ground and supporting an open-ended drum that has an outer surface for supporting the bag in a compressed condition. The device has pads connected to the framework that can be lowered to a location underlying the wheels of a vehicle that is used to load a bale through the drum and into a space in the bag beyond the drum. The result is to immobilize the device during the loading operation by virtue of the weight of the vehicle on the pads. The same vehicle can be used between bale loading operations to pull the sheathing device forwards to a new location to dispense a portion of the bag from the surface of the drum and hence create a space in the bag to receive the next bale.

A process and apparatus are disclosed for the accurate measurement and control of liquid flow at low flow rates. The invention is particularly applicable to the measurement and control of continuous liquid blending operations, e.g. gasoline blending, in which a liquid additive, e.g. tetraethyl lead, is fed into a continuously flowing liquid stream, the additive being added in precisely controlled amounts requiring precise control of liquid flow at very low flow rates. According to the invention the additive is fed from a stock tank 1 alternately into one or the other of two reservoirs 6, 7 connected in parallel between the inlet line 3 from the stock tank and an outlet line 20. As the one reservoir is being charged, the other is being discharged through the four-way valve 5 to the outlet. Flow through the outlet line 20 is controlled by a valve 22. In accordance with the invention, the mass of liquid is continuously monitored by means in each reservoir sensitive to the weight of liquid in the reservoir which emits a signal proportional to the mass of liquid in the reservoir. This signal is passed to a differentiator for conversion into a flow signal proportional to the mass flow rate. The flow rate signal is fed to a ratio controller 36 for comparison with a demand signal fed via line 39 representing the desired flow rate. Depending on the difference, if any, between the flow signal and the demand signal, a control signal is sent via line 35 to automatically adjust the setting of the valve 22 and bring the flow rate to the desired value.
