The support disk carries a marker which, when the support member is rotated, is moved to indicate a particular hour and minute indicator on the clock face. The support disk is connected to the hour setting disk to rotate the latter which, in turn, rotates the minute setting disk. The support disk is accessible to rotation at the front of the clock. The hour and minute setting disks are preferably connected to an alarm time storage device by means of conductive fingers which are mounted on the disks and which are engageable with concentric conductive strips mounted on a stationary part of the clock.

Startup problems are avoided by control of the power supply with a threshold value circuit that allows power to be supplied to device components when the components' minimum actuating voltage level has been attained at the capacitor. A deactuating voltage value of the threshold value circuit that is lower than the actuating voltage level prevents interruptions of operation similar to relaxation oscillation behavior due to temporarily increased actuating power requirements by causing deactivation of the components only if the capacitor voltage has dropped below a predetermined operational minimum. In this manner additional functions (such as radio watches with automatic hands setting devices or directional antennas, or ornamental pendulums or alarm or striking watches) which have components with higher acutating power requirements may be supplied without batteries by solar cells without having to overdimension the storage capacitor for the high startup load and thereby unnecessarily delay actuation of the device upon the exposure to radiation of the solar cells.

For this purpose, an analog or digital, optionally multidigit display element is provided, which displays supplemental information concerning the quality of reception, expressed as an indication of the period of time elapsed since the most recent monitoring and possible correction of the time display, the correction based on the information received by radio and decoded. The display element offers the lowest possible display value if the radio reception conditions are good enough that each actuation of the receiver leads to the acquisition of usable time information. The degree of certainty in the accuracy of the time display predisposes the timepiece to be used as an alarm clock in particular, in which case the alarm clock need only be equipped with setting elements for preselecting the time of alarm, for an alarm interruption or deactivation, and optionally for the switching of a supplemental display between displaying the preselected time of alarm and date information obtained from the radio information.

An autonomous radio timepiece is provided which will furnish a usable time display even when it is outside the time zone of the sender or if the timepiece is to be actuated, when it is not possible at a given point in time to receive valid time telegrams. For this, the timepiece is equipped with a manually actuated hour switch for the input of correction information in a supplemental memory, the content of which is summed together for the actual hour display with that of the hour register, possible set by radio. By actuating a START switch to a full hour, for example, synchronized with the reception of an hour synchronizing signal from another source, the content of the register is brought into a full hour position and from there, stepped forward by an internal time keeping step circuit. The receiver is actuated simultaneously in order to correct the content of the register if a valid time telegram is received. Should this not take place within a reasonable period of time, the hour setting, which possibly is displayed incorrectly, may be corrected manually by means of the hour switch, by setting its memory to the display difference required.

An autonomous radio timepiece having a time equalizing processor to control and potentially correct the instantaneous time indication on the basis of the prevailing time information received by radio transmission, is equipped with an improved device for temporarily interrupting operation of the time indication. Such a device is provided for the purpose of interrupting the display function of the radio timepiece without deactivating the other auxiliary and operating functions of the radio timepiece, so that following termination of the interruption, normal operation continues without any interference. The display may be interrupted indirectly or directly. In the first case the reset inlet of the time equalizing processor is actuated to trigger the synchronizing process, which otherwise takes place upon the actuation of the radio timepiece. In the other case, the actuation of the display indexing device is electrically blocked in order to temporarily retain a predefined, just attained position of the gear (for example, to provide sufficient time to mount the hands of the display device during assembly of the radio timepiece).

An electromechanical short interval timer has an actuating dial which can be manually rotated from a rest position to establish a time-elapse period. An electric motor returns the dial to its rest position. A timing circuit delivers electric pulses to drive the motor. A frequency selector switch is connected to or within the timing circuit whereby the pulse frequency can be varied. In this way, the time elapse period which is set by a given amount of dial rotation can be varied in a simplified manner. The dial activates a signal emitter before reaching its rest position, and simultaneously activates a timer circuit to continue returning the dial to its rest position. The dial engages a movable stop at both ends of its 360 degree travel stroke which assumes that the dial travels exactly 360 degrees.
