摘要: A plasma display panel (PDP) and a method of manufacturing the same, the PDP including scan electrodes extending parallel to one another, sustain electrodes extending parallel to the scan electrodes, and address electrodes extending across the sustain electrodes and the scan electrodes. The address electrodes are divided into a first address electrode group extending from a first side of the panel, and a second address electrode group extending from an opposing second side of the panel, such that the first and second groups are disposed on different sides of the PDP.

摘要: An initialization and driving method for a plasma display panel. When the plasma display panel is turned on, a voltage at a first electrode is increased from a first voltage to a second voltage, and a voltage at a second electrode is reduced from a fourth voltage to the fifth voltage for the purpose of forming wall charges in cells while a third voltage is applied to the second electrode. A voltage is applied to the first electrode and the second electrode to establish a difference between the first electrode and the second electrode to be alternately a sixth voltage and a negative voltage of the sixth voltage, and therefore the cell is discharged.

When the subfield with the greatest weight is the Kth subfield (K>M), grayscales of the image data are expressed with the mapped data of the (K−M+1)th subfield to the Kth subfield, and the mapped data from the first subfield to the (K−M)th subfield may be ignored.

摘要: A driving apparatus of a plasma display panel for applying a rising or falling waveform to a panel capacitor, comprising a transistor for forming a current path between a power source and the panel capacitor while the transistor is turned on, and which is coupled between the power source and one end of the panel capacitor. A first capacitor and a second capacitor are coupled in parallel to each other and in between a drain and a gate of the transistor. A first resistor and a first diode are coupled in parallel to each other between a first end of the first capacitor and the gate, and a second resistor and a second diode are coupled in parallel to each other between a first end of the second capacitor and the gate.

摘要: A power supply that is employable by a plasma display device for generating and supplying a plurality of voltages, the power supply including a first power source generating and supplying a first voltage, a transistor having a drain electrically coupled to the first power source, a first resistor having a first end coupled to the first power source and a second end electrically coupled to a gate of the transistor, a second resistor having a first end coupled to the second end of the first resistor and a second end electrically coupled to a second power source supplying a second voltage that is lower than the first voltage, and a capacitor having a first end coupled to a source of the transistor and a second end electrically coupled to the second power source. The coupling of the first end of the capacitor to the source of the transistor may form a third voltage supply node having the third voltage when the capacitor is charged.

Delay circuits are added to a control terminal of a switch and a rising delay time is established to be different from a falling delay time in an address driving circuit so that voltages at adjacent address electrode may not be concurrently changed in the opposite directions. Accordingly, power consumption by the address driving circuit is minimized without a power recovery circuit.

摘要: A plasma display panel driving method and apparatus. In a falling period of a reset period, a voltage at a scan electrode is gradually reduced to the voltage Vnf from the voltage Vs while a sustain electrode is maintained at the voltage Va. In an address period, the voltage Va is applied to an address electrode of a discharge cell to be turned on while the sustain electrode is maintained at the voltage Va. Therefore, the number of voltage sources can be reduced by establishing the voltage applied to the sustain electrode to correspond to the voltage Va in the falling period of the reset period and in the address period.

The panel driving apparatus includes a sustain discharge circuit part supplying a sustain pulse through an output terminal to the panel, and a switching part having a plurality of control switches for connecting the output terminal of the sustain discharge circuit part to the plurality of panel blocks. When electrodes of the panel are separated in blocks, the panel driving apparatus can be implemented at a low cost without any circuit variation during sustain discharge.
