Abstract:
Methods and systems remove sheets of media from envelopes, and scan the envelopes and the sheets of media through an optical scanner. Such method and systems use the envelopes as separator sheets between groups of the sheets of media. During the scans each envelope is followed by a corresponding group of sheets of media that were within the envelope when the envelope was received. Further, the exterior of each envelope comprises classification data that classifies the corresponding group of the sheets of media. Such methods and systems produce electronic scan documents of scans of the groups of sheets separated according to the envelopes that act as the separator sheets. The electronic scan documents and the classification data can then be automatically provided to an electronic records system. The electronic records system automatically processes the electronic scan documents using the classification data.
Abstract:
An electronic medical record creation system receives an image of a patent identification card, as well as an image of a healthcare insurance card. The system processes the image of the identification card to extract the patient name, and it processes the image of the healthcare insurance card to extract names of one or more covered persons. The system determines which of the covered persons' name corresponds to the name of the patient, and it extracts a corresponding insurance identification number from the image of the healthcare insurance card. The system creates an electronic patient record for the patient that includes the identified covered person name and the insurance identification number.
Abstract:
A method and system for identifying and acting on a handwritten action item is disclosed. The system may learn a set of user-defined symbols and associate each symbol with an action category. Then, when the system that captures a handwritten action item that includes one of the symbols, it will determine which action category that corresponds to the symbol, identify process parameters in the action item, determine a task to be performed based on the action category, and apply the process parameters to automatically perform the task.
