In embodiments, a suitable method includes aggregating a mixture comprising at least one resin, an optional pigment and an optional wax to form aggregated particles, freezing aggregation of particles by adjusting the pH of the aggregated particles to a freezing aggregation pH; coalescing the aggregated particles to form toner particles at a first pH that is higher than the freezing aggregation pH; and recovering the toner particles.
