Abstract: This disclosure provides a method for providing a service set identifier (SSID) in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The method includes encoding the SSID with a character encoding for each of one or more default system platforms, to generate one or more SSID codes suitable for the system platforms, and broadcasting the generated SSID codes suitable for the system platforms in the WLAN.
