摘要: Systems and methods are described for inhibiting the readability of an optical media due to changes in a pseudo-transmissive material that composes the optical media after the optical media has been exposed to air for a predetermined time. A optical media includes a substrate. At least a fraction of the substrate transforms from a substantially optically transmissive state to a substantially optically non-transmissive state as at-least-in-part a function of time from an initializing event. The systems and methods provide advantages because of low cost, limited content lifetime, avoidance of rental returns and minimum changes to existing manufacturing processes.

摘要: Limited life optical media and methods of making same are described. The limited life optical media includes at least one reactive substance that prohibits continued access to at least part of the information contained on the media after a prescribed period of time. In addition to at least one reactive substance, an antioxidant substance is present as part of the limited life optical media to modulate, in part, the action of the at least one reactive substance.
