摘要: The generation of flicker is prevented when the contrast of a displayed image is changed. The amplitude of the data voltage whose polarity is inverted at a timing synchronized with the display cycle of an image is changed based on the tone and the designed contrast. At the same time, the position (center) of 0 V relative to the amplitude of the data voltage is offset a larger amount as the contrast increases. This corrects a change V in voltage between the electrodes under the influence of the parasitic capacity of a TFT when the TFT is turned off, so that the voltage between the electrodes is also turned off despite the polarity of the data voltage applied to the liquid crystal, even when the designated contrast is relatively high and the amplitude of the data voltage is relatively small, and even when the designated contrast is relatively low and the amplitude of the data voltage is relatively large.

摘要: In a printed circuit board for a liquid crystal display using Tape Automated Bonding (TAB) for making interconnections, flow of molten solder to adjacent input electrodes on the TAB is prevented as well as short-circuiting between electrodes and wire breakage by using an improved TAB structure that avoids applying a concentration of shearing stress to the input electrodes and retards short-circuiting solder flow. This is accomplished by making the width of the slit for the input electrodes uneven. The width of the slit where each of the electrodes crosses over the slit is narrower than elsewhere.

摘要: In order to display an image on a liquid crystal display at a constant image quality independently of a change of the length of the period for applying voltages with the same polarity to the liquid crystal, the length of one cycle of a horizontal synchronizing signal inputted to an LCD unit from an information processor is counted and the amplitude of data voltage and the center of the amplitude are corrected so that the amplitude of the data voltage to be applied to the liquid crystal increases and a correction value for the center of the amplitude increases as the length of the period for applying data voltages with the same polarity to the liquid crystal decreases in accordance with the length of one cycle of the horizontal synchronizing signal and whether to perform gate overlap scan. Thereby, the absolute values (V) of inter-electrode voltages after the TFT is turned off are equalized independently of the polarity of data voltage to be applied to the liquid crystal both for a relatively long period and for a relatively short period.

摘要: A lamp guarding unit 26 of a backlight 20 for a liquid crystal display is detachable from a lamp holding unit 24 fixed to a light-guiding plate 22 in a direction perpendicular to a light illumination surface of the light-guiding plate 22. Therefore, in replacing a fluorescent tube 44, it is not necessary to replace the whole backlight 20 or for the user to touch the fluorescent tube 44, which is difficult to handle. Because of the perpendicular removal, only a small space is needed for the replacement. Thus, the fluorescent tube 44 can be replaced safely and easily, and only a small space is required for this replacement.

摘要: Apparatus in a continuous processing line or wire wherein a welded joint, a disconnected part or an entangled part of a metallic wire, traveling continuously, is detected by sensing a variation in the electrostatic capacity between a detecting element and the wire member. The detecting element is so supported as to be displaceable when pressed by the metallic wire, which passes over an auxiliary roller which is disposed at a position opposite to the detecting element, with the wire moving therebetween. A pair of guide rollers disposed forwardly and rearwardly of the detecting element, in the traveling direction of the wire, and a pair of press rollers are disposed on the same side as that of the detecting element and between the detecting element and the guide rollers in order to normally hold the wire member to be detected in contact with the auxiliary roller.

摘要: A method and associated system for estimating a position of an object. A radio wave is received from each radio frequency identification (RFID) tag of N RFID tags affixed to the object at different positions at the object (N≧2). A position of each RFID tag is detected from the received radio waves. A position of each RFID tag is estimated from analysis of the detected positions. The estimating includes utilizing, for n=1, 2, . . . , N, a specified probability function P(′pn|pn) denoting a probability that the estimated position of RFID tag n is ′pn if the detected position of RFID tag n is pn, wherein ′pn and pn are vectors from an origin of a coordinate system to the detected position and the estimated position, respectively, of the RFID tag n. The position of the object is ascertained from analysis of the estimated positions.
