摘要: On the back surface of a window member and a display surface of a liquid crystal display panel, the same antireflective structures having a plurality of convexities with predetermined dimensions not more than the wavelength of visible light are formed, respectively. While the liquid crystal display panel is protected by the window member, reflection of external light on the back surface of the window member and the display surface of the liquid crystal display panel and reflection of outgoing light from the liquid crystal display panel can be reduced by the convexities of the antireflective structures, so that visibility can be secured.

摘要: A stopper layer and a plurality of pixels are formed on a large-sized glass substrate by a conventional production process. An intermediate panel is formed by adhering a counter large-sized non-glass substrate onto the large-sized glass substrate. The large-sized glass substrate and the stopper layer are removed. A thinner film-shaped array large-sized non-glass substrate than the large-sized glass substrate is adhered to the counter large-sized non-glass substrate via an adhesive layer. It is possible to produce components including and up to the intermediate panel by using a conventional production process when transferring pixels (thin film transistor layer) onto the array large-sized non-glass substrate. Thinning and lightening of the liquid crystal display panel 11 can be achieved while preventing a remarkable increase in change in the production process and an increase in the number of indirect members.

摘要: A polishing speed of large glass plate 51 subjected to a thermal treatment is slower than that of a large glass plate not subjected to such a thermal treatment when a chemical polishing process is applied to make those large glass plates thin. Large glass plate 51 prepared with a thermal history of a temperature of 400° C. is assembled with large glass plate 53 prepared with a thermal history of a temperature of not higher than 220° C. Large glass plates 51 and 53 are then immersed in chemical polishing solution and taken out therefrom simultaneously. Large glass plate 51 is made thinner in thickness than large glass plate 53. This causes great improvement in production yield of an LCD device.

摘要: Transmissive display regions are disposed at both sides of a reflective region in each pixel so as to sandwich the reflective region therebetween. A first height adjusting layer is formed below a counter electrode of a counter substrate, whereby the thickness of a liquid crystal layer in the reflective display region is made smaller than the thickness of the transmissive display regions. The motion of liquid crystal molecules at the peripheral edge of the reflective display region and the motion of liquid crystal molecules at the peripheral edge of the transmissive display region are symmetrical at both sides of the reflective display region. The alignment stability of the liquid crystal in the pixel can be enhanced. Defects such as unevenness of display caused by fluctuation of alignment of the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer can be avoided. The asymmetrical property of the field-of-view angle can be avoided.

摘要: The present invention provides parallax barrier layers on a first transparent substrate. A second transparent substrate is adhesively attached to the parallax barrier layer side of the first transparent substrate. The opposite side to the parallax barrier layers of the first transparent substrate is polished. Various kinds of functional films are formed on the polished first transparent substrate to form a counter substrate. The positional displacement between each parallax barrier layer and each pixel can be suppressed, and uniformity of the visual field angle and yield can be enhanced.

摘要: In one embodiment, a nonplanar display devise includes an array substrate and a counter substrate formed of non-glass material. The array substrate includes a polishing stopper layer formed on a glass substrate. A ground layer is formed on a polishing layer. A switching element is arranged on the ground layer, and a pixel electrode is connected to the switching element. The nonplanar display device is manufactures as follows. First, the glass substrate is removed from the display cell. Then, the polishing stopper layer of the array substrate is removed. Finally, the nonplanar display device is manufactured by attaching an exposed ground layer of the array substrate and an insulating layer formed of the non-glass material in the display cell.

摘要: An angle of incidence of parallel light from a backlight unit that can change the luminance onto a display element is varied by means of an optical element. By increasing the luminance of parallel light from the backlight unit and increasing the angle of incidence of the light onto a liquid crystal display panel by means of the optical element, a wide-angle field is realized. By lowering the luminance of parallel light from the backlight unit and reducing the angle of incidence of the light onto the liquid crystal display panel by means of the optical element, the power consumption in the backlight unit is reduced, and low power consumption is realized. Both of the wide-angle field and the low power consumption are realized.
