    摘要: A differential envelope detector for detecting the envelope of a received differential signal. The received differential signal comprises first and second received voltages, and the differential envelope detector provides a differential output voltage comprising first and second output voltages, where the difference of the first and second output voltages is indicative of the envelope of the difference of the first and second received voltages. For full-wave rectification, the first received voltage is coupled to the non-inverting input port of a first differential amplifier and the inverting input port of a second differential amplifier, and the second received voltage is coupled to the inverting input port of the first differential amplifier and the non-inverting input port of the second differential amplifier. The output ports of the differential amplifiers are coupled to their input ports to provide negative feedback. The output ports of the differential amplifiers source and sink small-signal current to and from capacitors, where the voltage potential of the capacitors provides the first and second output voltages.

    摘要: An optical transceiver includes an optical IC coupled to a processor IC. For transmit, the optical IC can be understood as a transmitter IC including a laser device or array. For receive, the optical IC can be understood as a receiver IC including a photodetector/photodiode device or array. For a transmitter IC, the processor IC includes a driver for a laser of the transmitter IC. The driver includes an equalizer that applies high frequency gain to a signal transmitted with the laser device. For a receiver IC, the processor IC includes a front end circuit to interface with a photodetector of the receiver IC. The front end circuit includes an equalizer that applies high frequency gain to a signal received by the receiver IC. The driver can be configurable to receive a laser having either orientation: ground termination or supply termination.

    摘要: A receiver to detect pulses on a home phone wiring network using envelope detection. The receiver comprises an integrating capacitor charged by a first current source responsive to a differential signal propagated on the wiring network, and discharged by a FET in combination with a second current source. The combination of the FET and the second current source allows the capacitor to be quickly discharged in a smooth fashion. An application of this receiver is for a PHY according to the Home Phoneline Networking Alliance.

    摘要: A regulator circuit, embedded in a device, which is adapted to draw power from a power source internal to the device and a power source external to the device. The regulator circuit includes a first circuit segment for regulating power supplied by the internal power source, a second circuit segment for regulating power supplied by the external power source, an output circuit segment that monitors the output of the regulator circuit and supplies regulated power to the device. Additionally, responsive to the monitoring the regulator circuit preferentially draws power from the second circuit segment and complements the drawn power with power from the first circuit segment to maintain a regulated power supply at the output.
