    摘要： An apparatus and method for processing images, which can discriminate a specific original image from other images with high accuracy. The apparatus includes a first judgment unit for judging whether image data includes data corresponding to image information that is difficult for human eyes to perceive, a second judgment unit for judging whether the image data includes data corresponding to line information arranged such that the line information overlaps image information that is difficult for human eyes to perceive, and a discrimination unit for discriminating whether or not the image data corresponds to a specific image, based on a judgment result of the first judgment unit and a judgment result of the second judgment unit. The method includes corresponding steps to perform these functions.

    摘要： A color image processing apparatus that prevents counterfeiting by detecting specific originals with high precision. Although general banknotes have graphic patterns drawn on uniform density portions, the tonality percepted by human eye is the mixture of the tonality of a graphic portion and the tonality of a uniform density portion. In consideration of the mixed tonality sensed by human eye, the apparatus smoothes a read image signal to generate mixed tonality for judgment, thus improves judgment precision. The total judgment of existence/absence of specific original is made by performing m judgments on m (m>n) judging conditions using the tonality data of pre-registered n (n: positive integer) specific originals.

    摘要： An image processing apparatus is allows to specify a marker area in a simple and accurate manner even for a full color document sheet to conduct a predetermined edit process. The image apparatus comprises a read unit (three of four-line CCD) for color-decomposing predetermined colors of a document sheet image, an infrared ray read unit (the remaining one of the four-line CCD) for reading an infrared ray in a reflected light from an area of the document sheet image having marked with an infrared ray absorbing ink, a recognition unit for recognizing an area free from the infrared ray component read by the infrared ray read unit, and an image editting unit for conducting a predetermined edit process to the area recognized by the recognition unit in the document sheet image read by the read unit.
