    摘要: An optical recording medium wherein a recording layer capable of optically recording and reproducing the information is formed on a substrate, and wherein the information is recorded with a light beam having a wavelength shorter than that of a replay light beam. A film thickness d of the recording layer is set so as to satisfy the relation d.ltoreq.1.75.lambda./n, where .lambda. is the wavelength of the replay light beam and n is the real part of the complex index of refraction of the recording layer with respect to the replay light beam. The real part of the complex index of refraction of the recording layer with respect to the replay light beam is not less than 2.55, while the absolute value of the imaginary part of the complex index of refraction of the recording layer with respect to the recording light beam is not less than 1.0. The organic dye may be enumerated by a cyanine compound and a porphyrin compound. If the porphyrin compound is used, blue-hued laser recording becomes possible. The optical recording medium is capable of non-destructive reading and superior in reliability and high-speed recording/reproducing characteristics.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to an optical data storage medium in which a reflecting layer is formed on a substrate. A dye containing layer having a reflectivity of 15 to 25% is used as the reflecting layer, and a signal modulation degree of an information signal falls within a range of from 0.3 to 0.6. Further, a real number portion n of complex index of refraction of the reflecting layer is selected so as to satisfy n.gtoreq.1.84.According to the present invention, there is provided an optical data storage medium which can be reproduced by a recording and reproducing apparatus which is designed so as to record and reproduce a medium such as a magneto-optical disc or the like having a reflectivity of about 15 to 25%. Therefore, the recording and reproducing apparatus that can record and reproduce the medium having the reflecting layer whose reflectivity is low can be made small in size and light in weight.

    摘要: A tape-shaped optical recording medium, in which a recording layer capable of optically recording or reproducing information signals is formed on a flexible base, is disclosed. A protective film formed of a soluble high polymer having a contact angle with respect to water of not less than 100.degree. C. and a glass transition temperature of not lower than 100.degree. C. is formed on the recording layer. The soluble high polymer may be a fluorine-based polymer, such as a tetrafluoroethylene-dioxole copolymer. The protective film has a film thickness in a range of from 0.25 .lambda./n to 0.5 .lambda./n, where .lambda. is a wavelength of a playback light and n is a refractive index of the protective film.
