Color cathode ray tube including a panel in front portion of the cathode ray tube, and a shadow mask spaced from, and fitted to rear of the panel for selecting a color from electron beams, wherein at least one of an inside surface of the panel and the shadow mask have a curvature structure in which a radius of curvature varies continuously within a fixed ratio range, thereby enhancing a strength and improving howling.
Abstract:
A cathode ray tube is provided which includes a panel having a fluorescent surface formed on an inside surface thereof, a tension type shadow mask fitted to the panel with a gap formed therebetween, and a frame. The frame includes two main frames fixed to the tension type shadow mask under tension, and two subframes fixed respectively to ends of the two main frames. A distance between the two main frames between a center part or portion of the main frame and an edge part or portion. To assemble the frame assembly and the shadow mask, the main frames are compressed, the tension type shadow mask is welded thereto, and the compression applied to the main frames is then released. The invention improves a howling characteristic by reducing a vibratory length of the shadow mask and increasing a natural frequency of the center part or portion of the shadow mask.

A mask frame assembly in a cathode ray tube is capable of minimizing a howling phenomenon and preventing local wrinkles of a shadow mask by optimizing positioning of compression of the mask frame assembly. A mask frame assembly for applying optimal tension in a cathode ray tube includes a shadow mask for selecting color and a frame assembly having a main frame for applying tension to the shadow mask and a sub-frame for supporting the main frame, wherein each of compression points of the main frame is set to satisfy the following expressions, (L/2)×0.38≦X1≦(L/2)×0.52, and (L/2)×0.80≦X2×(L/2)×0.98, where L is a length of a long side of the main frame, X1 and X2 are distances from the center of the main frame to each of compression points P1 and P2 in both sides.

A shrinkage band for a CRT including: a panel forming a display screen; and a shrinkage band having a predetermined width combined to cover the outer circumferential surface of the side portion of the panel in a state of satisfying an inequality of 0.95≦Fa/Fb≦1.39 on the assumption that an engagement tensile force of the front side of the panel is Fa and that of the opposite side of the front side of the panel is Fb on the basis of the line extended in the horizontal direction of the panel from the center of the curved portion of the corner of the inner side of the flat panel. With the construction, the explosion characteristics of the flat panel can be highly improved along with an effectiveness that a reliability can be enhanced and a stability in use can be obtained.

A cathode ray tube comprises a panel having a fluorescent formed on an inner surface thereof; a funnel connected to the panel; an electron gun housed in the funnel emitting electron beams; a deflection yoke for deflecting the electron beams in horizontal and vertical directions; a shadow mask for selecting colors of the electron beams; and a mask frame for supporting the shadow mask, in which an outer surface of the panel is substantially flat and an inner surface has a designated curvature, and a radius of curvature from a center of the shadow mask in a major-axis, minor-axis and diagonal-axis direction is substantially same.

Disclosed is a flat type color cathode ray tube of high quality, which is capable of maintaining a brightness and brightness uniformity of an image while improving contrast, thereby ensuring flatness and visual distinction of the image. The flat type color cathode ray tube comprises a panel having an outer surface which is substantially flat and an inner surface which takes a predetermined curvature. The panel possesses at a center part thereof a transmittance of 45%˜75%, and the inner surface of the panel possesses an on-diagonal-axis curvature RD which satisfies a correlation, 3.5R≦RD≦8.0R where R is a product of 1.767 and a diagonal length of an effective surface along a diagonal axis.

Panel in a cathode ray tube having a flat outside and a curved inside surfaces, which can provide a perfect flat image at an appropriate distance of view, wherein a condition of 2.48×106(mm2)≦R×CFT≦4.38×106(mm2) is set for the CRT for use as a TV receiver, and a condition of 2.17×105(mm2)≦R×CFT≦6.93×105(mm2) is set for the CRT for use as a monitor, where R is a curvature represented by at least one of vertical, horizontal and diagonal curvatures of the inside surface of the panel and CFT is a center thickness of the panel.
