A toner in which mother toner particles containing at least a resin binder and a colorant are coated with an external additive, wherein the mother toner particles contain fine powders of a fluororesin having an average particle size of 1 μm or less in an amount of from 4 to 10 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the resin binder, and a toner in which mother toner particles containing at least a resin binder and a colorant are coated with an external additive, wherein the external additive contains fine powders of a fluororesin having an average particle size of 1 μm or less in an amount of from 0.3 to 2 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the mother toner particles. The toner of the present invention is suitably used for, for example, developing a latent image formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method, or the like.

The toner for electrostatic image development of the present invention can be suitably used in developing latent images formed in, for example, electrophotography, an electrostatic recording method, an electrostatic printing method, or the like.

An image forming apparatus that is capable of accessing a removable storage medium and automatically starting an operation of calibration thereof without waiting for a user to input a job, on an as-needed basis, when a storage medium is mounted therein. A printer engine performs an image forming operation according to data read from the medium, and a controller executes calibration of the printer engine. The controller detects whether or not the medium is inserted, and determines attributes of data stored in the medium. Based on a result of determination, the controller causes the calibration to be selectively started.

The present invention is to provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method which print and output image data subjected to halftone processing with an appropriate density characteristic. The image processing apparatus generates a halftone image from a multi-value image using a threshold value arrangement, and generates a difference image between a halftone image having the density characteristic different from that of the generated halftone image and the generated halftone image. The image processing apparatus stores the generated halftone image and the generated difference image. The image processing apparatus determines the density characteristic for printing the halftone image, when determining to carry out printing with the density characteristic different from that of the stored halftone image, generates a halftone image by combining the stored difference image according to the determined density characteristic and the stored halftone image, and outputs the combined and generated halftone image for printing.

An image input/output system obtains a print-job that includes printing-mode information and print-data, and analyzes the printing-mode information to determine whether the output mode of the print-data is a high-contrast output mode or a low-contrast output mode. According to the determined output mode, the image-processing device generates image data by calculating the color-space conversion of the print-data at a high bit-depth if the output mode is high-contrast, or at a low bit-depth if the output mode is low-contrast, thereby achieving output with high reproducibility in a high-contrast output mode, and high-speed output in a low-contrast output mode.

A long life ferroelectric memory device using a thin ferroelectric film capacitor as a memory capacitor is obtained by disposing one or a plurality of degradation preventive layers on an upper protection electrode and an upper electrode 8 and a degradation preventive layer at the boundary of ferroelectric layer 7 /electrodes 6, 8, or providing a step of decreasing a modified layer at the boundary of ferroelectric layer 7/upper electrode 8. This provides a thin ferroelectric film capacitor which is subjected to less fatigue and imprinting and which has less degradation of the ferroelectric characteristic, thereby to attain a long life ferroelectric memory device.
