    摘要: A load current balancing circuit that operates with a direct current (DC) power supply includes at least one transformer having a first inductive element adapted to couple in series with a first load and a second inductive element adapted to couple in series with a second load. The first load is parallel to the second load. The load balancing circuit further includes at least one switch adapted to operate at one or more switching frequencies associated with at least one driving signal. The switch is configured to periodically interrupt respective current flows through the first inductive element and second inductive element substantially simultaneously.

    摘要: A ballast according to the present invention operates in an ignition state, a warm-up state, and a steady state for igniting and powering a lamp. The ballast comprises an igniter that ignites the lamp during the ignition state and a switching power inverter, for example, a full bridge DC-AC inverter implemented with MOSFET switching transistors, that powers the lamp during the warm-up and steady states. The switching power inverter, which drives the igniter, operates at a first switching frequency during the ignition state and operates at a second switching frequency during the steady state. Preferably, the first switching frequency, which in one exemplary embodiment is in the kHz range, is higher than the second switching frequency.

The power converter includes a combined transformer-inductor device having a primary winding, a secondary winding, and an auxiliary winding where the primary and the secondary windings perform a transformer function and the auxiliary winding performs an output filter function, a switching circuit for periodically providing a positive voltage to the primary winding and a negative voltage to reset the primary winding, and a synchronous rectification circuit connected for enabling conduction from the secondary winding to an output port in which the auxiliary winding is coupled between the output port and the synchronous rectification circuit for providing an inductance to filter an output signal.

    摘要: A light-emitting diode (LED) driver according to the present invention consists of a voltage pre-regulator and multiple linear current regulators with an adaptively-controlled drive voltage. In this LED driver, the efficiency maximization is achieved by eliminating the sensing of the voltage drops across the linear regulators, i.e., by removing the external voltage feedback for the adjustment of the output voltage of the pre-regulator. In the LED driver of the present invention, the self-adjustment of drive voltage is achieved by relying on a relatively strong dependence between the gate-to-source and drain-to-source voltages of a current-regulating transistor, e.g., a MOSFET, operating in the linear region. The driver powers all LEDs in a string with a constant current and provides consistent illumination and optimum operating efficiency at low cost over a wide range of input/output voltage and temperature.
