摘要： An image forming apparatus having at least two of a plurality of functions including copying, facsimile and printer functions includes a main power switch that is provided on an outer surface of the apparatus and a cover to cover the main power switch. The cover is capable of opening and closing. Because the main power switch cannot be operated unless the cover is opened, when a user inadvertently tries to turn off the main power switch, for example, at the end of a day, the user must first touch the cover and is thereby reminded that the switch which the user is trying to turn off, is actually the main power switch for the apparatus. Thus, the main power switch is prevented from being inadvertently or unconsciously turned off.

摘要： An improved tray for stacking papers formed with images by an image forming apparatus and an improved arrangement for discharging air from the inside to the outside of the apparatus are disclosed. The tray is free from troubles ascribable to deformation caused by the weight of papers without resorting to reinforcement, i.e., an increase in volume. An anti-roll member for stiffening papers does not interfere with the tray when the tray is rotated. Hot air produced by, e.g., a fixing unit is prevented from reaching the operator of the apparatus.

摘要： A finisher for an image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a path for conveying a stapled paper stack and located at a high level so as to reduce the length of a path preceding the above path. This reduces the possibility of a paper jam in the finisher and operation time. A tray included in the finisher is located at a high level in accordance with the height of the path assigned to a stabled paper stack. The tray can therefore be located at a position allowing the operator to pick up papers in a natural position. A guide guides the staple cassette into and out of the stapler body alone. Such a simple configuration insures the accurate insertion and removal of the staple cassette.

摘要： An image forming apparatus which includes both a front cover and a side cover which must be opened to properly access an area where a paper jam may occur. The side cover includes an extending portion protecting board which extends into an area covered by the front cover. The protecting board prevents access to internal elements of the image forming apparatus which an operator may attempt to access if a paper jam occurs, without also opening the side cover. Thereby, an operator is required to properly open both the front cover and the side cover to address a paper jam situation.

摘要： An image forming apparatus which can control a number of paper sheets to be stacked onto a paper receiving tray based on a read paper sheet size. This structure is particularly relevant if a receiving paper tray is inclined and has an area above the paper receiving tray limited by a structure formed above the paper receiving tray. A height of stacked paper sheets on the paper receiving tray can be sensed, and a number of paper sheets allowed to be stacked on the paper receiving tray can be limited based on the read paper size and the sensed height of the stack of paper sheets. Further, the number of paper sheets allowed to be stacked onto the paper receiving tray can be limited based on the read paper size.

摘要： A sheet-receiving device has multiple sheet receiving faces on which to receive different print jobs. The print faces are positioned in tandem with respect to each other. Sheets ejected from an apparatus are ejected onto a first of the multiple faces and remain their until moved. If another print job is to be printed, the operator may move the first print job from the first sheet receiving face to the second sheet receiving face simply by sliding the first print job to the second sheet receiving face. The first print job snaps into place, and curled edges of upper sheets in the first print job are blocked by a barrier between the first and second sheet receiving face so that sheets in the first print job do not interfere with the reception of sheets in the second print job.

The conveyor conveys the medium ejected from the image forming apparatus. The slit communicates with an opening of a housing into which a medium is manually inserted from outside and includes a placement face on which the inserted medium is placed. The placement face has a first side and a second side orthogonal to the first side. The first and second sides are not parallel to a direction in which a side face of the housing extends. The medium processing device processes the medium conveyed by the conveyor or the medium placed on the slit. The stopper regulates edges of the medium along the first and second sides of the placement face. The detectors are disposed on the stopper to detect the medium.

摘要： A sheet processing apparatus includes: a second conveying roller pair that receives and conveys a sheet conveyed by a first conveying roller pair; a first folding roller pair that forms a first fold on the sheet; and a first rotation unit capable of rotating the second conveying roller pair and the first folding roller pair. One roller of the second conveying roller pair and one roller of the first folding roller pair are a common roller shared therebetween. The second conveying roller pair causes the sheet to be deflected and guided to the first folding roller pair, and the first folding roller pair forms the first fold on the deflected sheet by rotating the first rotation unit in a certain direction in a state in which the sheet is held by the first conveying roller pair and the second conveying roller pair.
