摘要: The recording device includes recording unit for recording on a recording medium, conveying unit for conveying a recording medium upstream of the recording unit in the downstream direction, and an ejection unit for ejecting the recording medium which is downstream of the recording unit and which has undergone recording. The ejection unit has a drive roller and a driven roller urged toward the drive roller, the driven roller is capable of switching between a state of being urged by a first load and a state of being urged by a second load that is lower than the first load, the driven roller is set to the first-load selected state at least during rear end recording in which recording is performed on a rear end region of the recording medium, and the driven roller is set to the second-load selected state during ejection when the recording medium is ejected.

摘要: A medium cassette includes a slidable cassette pull-out part and is capable of being lengthened and shortened, and a medium tray has a first pull-out part slidably provided to a tray base, the medium tray can be lengthened and shortened, and the medium tray is detachably provided to the top of the medium cassette. The cassette pull-out part is provided with a first engaging protrusion and a second engaging protrusion which engage with the tray base, and inclined surfaces are formed on both sides in the detachment direction of these engaging protrusions. The designs of these inclined surfaces, of the heights of the protrusions, and of other features make it possible to perform the operations of lengthening/shortening and installing/detaching the medium cassette and the medium tray separately from the other component's side without restriction, even while the medium cassette and the medium tray are engaged together.

摘要: A printing apparatus includes a printing medium support unit that supports and guides a printing medium supplied to a print execution area. The printing medium support unit includes a support portion supporting the printing medium defines a predetermined gap with a print head. A suction groove is formed concavely on a support surface of the support portion. A suction opening in the suction groove communicates with a suction source. A movable adsorption portion in the suction groove has a suction hole. Before the printing medium is supplied, the movable adsorption portion is located at an upper limit position higher than a support height of the support portion. When the printing medium is supplied, the suction hole is blocked by the printing medium, creating negative pressure, and thus the movable adsorption portion is moved to a lower limit position no higher than the support height of the support portion.

摘要: A printing apparatus includes a printing medium support unit supporting a printing medium supplied to a print execution area and guiding the transported printing medium. The printing medium support unit includes a support portion supporting the printing medium and defining a predetermined gap between a print head and the support portion. A suction hole disposed in a width direction of the printing medium adsorbs and supports the printing medium on the support portion by applying a suction force to the printing medium. A first recess portion with an ink discharge port is disposed at a position corresponding to a position at an edge of the printing medium of a size which is supposed to be used and receives ink possibly discarded upon executing marginless printing. A first communication passage applies some of the suction force to the first recess portion in a passage independent from the ink discharge port.
