However, it is difficult to reconstruct the ink color-separation table within the limitation of total ink amount permissible for a print sheet. Accordingly, a color patch corresponding to a signal value of a color to be calibrated is formed in a printer, then the signal value is calibrated based on a measured color value of the formed color patch and a target value corresponding to the signal value of the color to be calibrated, and calibration multidimensional table data is generated based on the measured color value of the formed color patch.

    摘要: In conventional white balance adjustment, the processing is switched at the boundary of a threshold. When white balance adjustment is done for two regions having values near the threshold and similar color tones, their impressions become greatly different from each other. To prevent this, this invention calculates a white balance adjustment coefficient for each color component forming color image data, corrects the adjustment coefficient so as to be consecutive for each value of the color image data, and performs white balance adjustment based on the corrected adjustment coefficient. In performing a plurality of types of correction processes for image data, it is difficult to execute an optimal combination of correction processes in accordance with an input device. This invention specifies the characteristics of the input device, and controls a combination of correction processes with respect to the image data on the basis of the characteristics, thereby realizing proper correction based on the input device characteristics.

    摘要: A printing apparatus encodes masks used for thinning out print data when performing multi-pass printing and provided in correspondence with passes, and stores the encoded masks in a memory. The printing apparatus includes an assignment unit that assigns different codes with respect to pixels that indicate dot-on and are held in the masks provided in correspondence with the passes, depending on for which pass of mask processing the masks are used, and an encoding unit that generates, using the different codes, index data indicating pixels that indicate dot-on and are held in the masks corresponding to the passes, and generates encoded data by encoding the index data. Here, the encoding unit determines an assignment relationship in which the different codes are assigned to the passes by the assignment unit such that the encoded data is smaller than the data size of original masks, and generates the encoded data.

In plural color separation tables 108, maximum total color-material color discharge amounts are set to be stepwisely different. A γ correction table 109 is used upon correction of γ characteristics of the respective color-material colors regarding a print medium. A maximum total ink-amount calculation unit 110 calculates a maximum value of total ink amount for each color separation table 108 by using the γ correction table 109. A color separation table selector 107 determines a maximum value approximate to a value set by a maximum total ink-amount setting unit 106 from the calculated maximum values, and selects a color separation table corresponding to the determined maximum value. A color separation processor 102 performs processing based on the selected color separation table.
