摘要: A recording apparatus includes a setting section on which it is possible to set a medium, a recording section that is capable of recording a recording image on a set medium, which is the medium that is set in the setting section on the basis of image data, a designation section that is capable of designating a recording position of the recording image on the set medium, and a control section that causes the recording image to be recorded on the set medium on the basis of the recording position that is designated by the designation section. In a recording apparatus with such a configuration, it is possible to suppress recording position shift of the recording image arises in accordance with setting position shift of a medium.

摘要: A printing apparatus, including an image reader unit, a printer unit, and a controller, is provided. The controller executes an image reading process; a printing process; a standby process to hold the printer unit in a second condition, wherein the printer unit is enabled to print through a preparatory action, on standby during a time period between completion of the printing process and elapse of a standby period; a shifting process to shift the printer unit from the second condition to a first condition, wherein the preparatory action is required to enable the printer unit to print; and a changing process, wherein, if a document cover in the image reading unit is open during the time period between the completion of the printing process and elapse of the standby period, the standby period is changed from a first period to a second period that is longer than the first period.

摘要: A drop-on-demand multi-tone printing apparatus has a series of channels arranged to receive ink from a source. Each channel has a respective ink outlet. Each adjacent pair of the channels is separated by a respective dividing wall, and each dividing wall is movable in response to a respective pulsed electrical signal to apply pressure pulses to the respective pair of the channels, whereby ink can be ejected from the outlets and deposited onto a recording medium. A respective pulsed electrical signal is developed for each channel in dependence upon whether ink is to be ejected from that channel, the signals for adjacent pairs of the channels temporally overlapping each other and not being in phase with each other.

摘要: A facsimile transmitter and a facsimile receiver are combined into a common assembly having a single endless band which is driven at a constant velocity to scan an image of an advancing document and to sweep modulated columns of ink drops which deposit upon an advancing sheet of paper. In a preferred embodiment, the endless band has a plurality of uniformly spaced apertures which correspond to a plurality of elongated photodetectors and it also has a similar plurality of orifices which correspond to a plurality of charging electrodes. As the moving apertures scan an image of the document across the photodetectors, a signal is generated to control the charging electrodes and the endless band of a remote printer. When the facsimile transmitter and receiver operate as a copier, the signal is connected internally to control the charging electrodes.

摘要: A method of and apparatus for reproducing a graphic representation includes a scanner for scanning the original along a series of contiguous lines and transmitting an analog signal proportional to the intensity of the scanned area to an analog to digital convertor to provide a series of parallel, binary signals. Circuitry is provided which permits the digital signals to be stored and retrieved as a number of simultaneous signals from corresponding points in an equal number of transverse bands across the original. The retrieved digital signals are then used to control a bank of drop projectors, equal in number to the transverse bands, which project drops toward a receiving member mounted on a rotating cylinder, with the drop generators moving incrementally, axially of the cylinder, one line spacing each revolution of the cylinder to cause the reproduction to be produced as a series of contiguous, transverse bands corresponding to the transverse bands of the original.

摘要: In an ink drop writing system it was found that the drops formed by vibrating a nozzle would be accompanied by smaller satellite drops which could be detrimental to printing. This condition was considerably improved by designing the nozzle so that it would have a mechanical resonance at the frequency at which it formed drops. In order to insure a most efficient transfer of power from the driving source into the drop forming mechanism, the nozzle had to be designed to provide a fluid resonance condition. If the nozzle be considered as a closed pipe, then the frequency of vibration of the fluid in the pipe at which its length is an odd multiple of a quarter wavelength of sound through the fluid in the pipe, results in the highest power transfer.
