Abstract: At least some embodiments are directed to systems and methods to optimize relative signal delays in vision systems having illumination assemblies separate from a host. In an example embodiment there is a system that includes a host device having, an imaging assembly coupled to the host device and operable to capture image data, and an illumination assembly coupled to the host device and operable to provide illumination. The system is configured such that the host transmits, to the imaging assembly, a series of exposure signals causing the imaging assembly to capture a series of frames and transmits, to the illumination assembly, a series of illumination signals causing the illumination assembly to provide the illumination as a series of strobes. Thereafter the host evaluate each frame to identify a peak-brightness frame and from that, based on a corresponding illumination signal, determines an appropriate relative signal delay for future operations.

Abstract: A method in an imaging controller of detecting depth sensor artifacts includes: obtaining, from first and second sensors, first and second pluralities of points defined by respective (i) planar positions and depths in a common frame of reference, and (ii) scan angles relative to field of view centers of the first or second sensors; for each of a subset of candidate points from the first plurality of points: searching the second plurality of points for a validator point having (i) a planar position within a threshold distance of a planar position of the candidate point, and (ii) a scan angle smaller than a scan angle of the candidate point; responsive to identifying the validator point: when the depth of the validator point exceeds the depth of the candidate point, classifying the candidate point as an artifact.

Abstract: A method includes: selecting first control parameters for a perimeter intrusion detector of a mobile automation apparatus; controlling the perimeter intrusion detector according to the first control parameters, to monitor a first perimeter surrounding the mobile automation apparatus; determining that navigational data of the mobile automation apparatus defines a maneuver satisfying perimeter modification criteria; in response to determining that a likelihood of intrusion of the first perimeter associated with the maneuver exceeds a threshold, selecting second control parameters for the perimeter intrusion detector; modifying the first perimeter to a second perimeter according to the second control parameters; and controlling the perimeter intrusion detector to monitor the second perimeter.
