摘要： Electrical connections that provide a highly manufacturable, well-shielded path from a cable to a printed circuit board. One example provides a path that includes a card and a connector. Conductors in a cable may be attached to a card. The card may be shielded with a ground plane on one or more sides and edges. The card may insert into a connector that may be attached to a printed circuit board. The connector may include a shield that may have a top portion that forms electrical contact with a ground plane on a top of a card inserted in the connector. The connector may have an opening for accepting the card that is defined by the top portion of the shield and a plurality of rows of contacts. The rows of contacts may include an outer row of ground contacts, and an inner row of signal contacts.

One example may detect an optical audio plug by employing one or more mechanical detect switches. These switches may include a first contacting portion and a second contacting portion that are separated from each other when an audio plug is inserted into the audio jack. The second contacting portion may include one or more arms to contact a surface portion of the first contacting portion. The first contacting portion and the second contacting portion may be biased such that they tend to stay in contact with each other as the first contacting portion begins to be deflected by the insertion of an audio plug, thereby wiping dust or debris from between the first contacting portion and the second contacting portion.

摘要： Connector receptacles that are simple to assemble, provide good shielding, and consume a reduced or limited amount of space inside a device enclosure. To simplify assembly, these receptacles may include a subassembly that is inserted into a hollow tongue. The subassembly may include a first number of contacts that are insert molded in a first overmold, as well as a second number of contacts that may be inserted into a second overmold. To improve ground shielding, one or more ground contacts at a front of the receptacle may be split to provide shielding in a back of the receptacle. The tongue may further include ground contacts on its sides and top. The contacts may terminate in through-hole portions to reduce the space consumed by the receptacle.

To improve ground shielding, one or more ground contacts at a front of the receptacle may be split to provide shielding in a back of the receptacle. The tongue may further include ground contacts on its edges and top. Edge ground contacts may be inserted into the hollow tongue either separately or with the subassembly. Openings in the hollow tongue may expose portions of the edge ground contacts for grounding.

摘要： A water-repellent microphone and an improved method for constructing such a water-repellent microphone provides easy assembly and good acoustic performance. In one embodiment, a water-repellent membrane and a washer are pre-assembled. The surface of the washer opposite the membrane is covered by an adhesive, and the adhesive is covered by a removable liner. The method of assembly comprises removing the liner, and pressing the membrane and washer over the sound port of the microphone. The washer provides spacing between the microphone and the membrane and increases the membrane area through which sound passes, thus providing good acoustic performance. In a second embodiment, the washer is provided as a separate element with adhesives and liners on both sides. A first liner is removed and the washer is attached to the membrane or the microphone, and then the second liner is removed and the assembly is completed.
