    摘要: An endless power transmission belt construction and method of making the same are provided, the belt construction comprising an outer tension section, an inner compression section and a load-carrying section secured to and disposed intermediate the tension section and the compression section, the compression section having an inner surface defining a plurality of longitudinally disposed and alternately spaced apart projections and grooves and a plurality of transversely disposed and alternately spaced apart projections and grooves. Each transverse groove has a depth between approximately 0.070 of an inch and approximately 0.080 of an inch and is spaced from the next adjacent transverse groove thereto by a distance between approximately 0.3 of an inch and approximately 0.4 of an inch while each longitudinal groove has a depth of approximately 0.095 of an inch and is spaced from the next adjacent longitudinal groove thereto by a distance of approximately 0.140 of an inch.

    摘要: An elastomer coated bias fabric for reinforcing power transmission belts and the like is disclosed wherein one surface of the fabric is provided with an uncured, tacky, elastomeric composition. The fabric is prepared by pre-impregnating the fabric, transversely stretching the fabric on a tenter frame, coating a latex composition on both surfaces of the fabric while maintaining the fabric in its transversely stretched condition, and after drying the fabric, overcoating one surface only of the coated fabric with a tackified, latex composition which may contain a chemical linking agent which enhances the bond between the elastomer and the fabric by forming a chemical bridge between them. A method for manufacturing coated fabric is also disclosed.

    摘要: An endless power transmission belt construction having power transmitting contact faces and method of making the same are provided, the belt construction comprising an axial tensioning unit, a plurality of lateral stiffening units carried by the tensioning unit, and friction material carried by the units, the tensioning unit and the stiffening units being formed of material that provides an axial and lateral stiffness in excess of that normally provided by polymeric friction material that normally forms the main body of a belt construction that is reinforced with such a tensioning unit and stiffening units. The friction material has a first portion thereof disposed on the units to define the contact faces thereof and has a remaining portion thereof disposed on the units to at least assist in securing the first portion to the units, the thickness of the first portion of the friction material being relatively thin and the thickness of the remaining portion being no thicker than the thickness of the first portion whereby a substantially large amount of the belt construction comprises the material of the units and a substantially small amount of the belt construction comprises the friction material.

    摘要: A belt pulley and method of making the same are provided, the pulley having a hub and a peripheral groove for receiving part of an endless belt therein that is to drive the pulley or be driven thereby whereby the pulley is adapted to be rotated about the axis of the hub. The pulley has a plurality of vanes extending outwardly from at least one of the opposed sides thereof, the vanes comprising a plurality of spaced apart curved vanes of substantially the same size and shape and disposed in a plurality of circular arrays that are generally concentrically disposed relative to each other about the axis and on the one side of the pulley for acting on fluid adjacent the pulley to tend to cool the pulley with the fluid. The curved vanes in each circular array are each disposed substantially evenly between an adjacent pair of curved vanes in the circular array adjacent thereto whereby the number of the curved vanes in each circular array is the same, each curved vane having a convex side and a concave side. The concave side of each curved vane generally faces the axis and is substantially non-symmetric about a radial line intersecting its midpoint and the convex side of each curved vane generally faces in the direction of the peripheral groove.

    摘要: An endless power transmission belt having a toothed compression section and method of making the same are provided, the belt being formed substantially of polymeric materials and comprising a tension section, a compression section, and a load-carrying section disposed between the tension section and the compression section and having a transverse centerline, the compression section having an outer layer and an inner layer joined to the outer layer and defining an interface therewith that is substantially uniformly spaced from the load-carrying section by the outer layer throughout substantially the entire width and length of the belt. The compression section has an inner surface in the form of alternating transverse teeth and grooves with the grooves respectively defining the roots of the teeth. The inner layer of the compression section is softer than the outer layer thereof and the roots of the teeth are spaced inwardly from the interface of the layers so that the root of each tooth is spaced from the interface of the layers a distance that is approximately 25% of the distance of that tooth from the centerline of the load-carrying section whereby the inner layer tends to prevent cracking of the belt in the toothed area thereof.

    摘要: A system for fastening a rail to a foundation such as railroad ties or sleepers to form a railroad track. The system includes L-shaped inserts which are imbedded into the foundation and extending above it, supports which are laterally located with respect to the rails, and a fastening member or clip securing the rails. The main portion of each clip is mounted between the insert and the foundation, and one end contacts the upper surface of the supports. The other end of the clip contacts the flange of the rail, and has an offset lower surface which applies vertical and lateral pressure to the edge of the flange. The clip is made of a metal material and is a resilient spring having a multiple curved cross-section in order to apply compressive forces to the rail flange, the curved portions having undulating portions which make the various contacts.
