    摘要: A coupling design for an anthropomorphic test device includes mounting a base member to an anatomical component. The base member has opposing inner and outer surfaces and a peripheral edge connecting the base inner and outer surfaces with the base inner surface defining a first cavity. At least one base connector is coupled to the base inner surface and is at least partially disposed within the first cavity. The anatomical component has opposing inner and outer surfaces and a peripheral edge connecting the component inner and outer surfaces with the component inner surface defining a second cavity. At least one component connector is coupled to the anatomical component. The mounting is such that the component connector engages the base connector and the component and base peripheral edges abut and wherein the base and component outer surfaces align to define a smooth transition between the base and component outer surfaces.

    摘要: An anthropomorphic test device utilizes a mounting mechanism for coupling a hollow member including a simulated flesh to a support structure, with the simulated flesh including a foam core portion covered with a skin portion. The mounting mechanism includes inserts, such as plastic or metal inserts having a flange portion and an elongated tubular member, which are introduced in multiple places within the simulated flesh with the flange portion within the foam core portion and the elongated tubular member extending through the skin portion. A fastening member is inserted through an elongated opening in the insert and within a receiving cavity portion of the support structure to secure the hollow member to the support structure. The hollow member may be a hollow pelvic member, and the support structure may be a pelvic support structure, with the hollow pelvic member secured to the pelvic support structure via the mounting mechanism.

The system includes a deformable body part and an optical fiber that has a plurality of grating sensors between first and second ends is supported about the deformable body part to generate optical strain data. The deformable body part is loaded into a testing fixture and a load is applied. At least one camera is positioned toward the testing fixture to record the deformable body part as the load is applied thereto and to capture images generating image deformation data for comparison with the optical strain data to determine a correlation, or correction, factor for the optical fiber and the body part.

    摘要: A spine adjustment joint for use in a spine assembly of an anthropomorphic device with the device used to achieve a human-like response in crash test simulations. The joint includes a lower bracket which is coupled to a lower spine assembly and an upper bracket which is coupled to an upper spine assembly. The spine adjustment joint also includes a joint member at least partially formed of an elastomeric material that is coupled to each of the upper and lower bracket with the joint member providing flexibility between the upper and lower spine assembly. The spine assembly also includes at least one fastener passing through one of the upper and lower brackets and mounted to the joint member to secure the upper spine assembly in the desired angular position relative to the lower spine assembly.
