    摘要: In one aspect, there is disclosed a drawn arc fastener welding process that includes the steps of providing a fastener positioned in a welding tool, providing a weld control, providing a work piece, contacting the fastener against the work piece, energizing a pilot current, lifting the fastener from the work piece and drawing a pilot arc, energizing a main arc for a predetermined duration, short circuiting the fastener relative to the work piece, cyclically redrawing an arc and short circuiting the fastener relative to the work piece at least one additional cycle, dynamically sensing an arc voltage and calculating a derivative signal of the voltage over time for each drawn arc and short circuit of the cycle wherein a position and motion of the fastener relative to the work piece is controlled and the energizing of the arc is controlled, and plunging the fastener into the work piece forming a weld.

    摘要: A portable drawn arc stud welder apparatus with a lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) battery and stud weld battery control system (SWBCS) is provided for welding a stud onto a workpiece. The portable drawn arc stud welder apparatus includes a housing, an LFP battery disposed in the housing and including a plurality of LFP battery cells, a weld stud gun configured to hold a stud and is electrically connected to the LFP battery for receiving energy from the LFP battery to pass a current through the stud and the workpiece to form a weldment. The SWBCS is disposed in the housing and electrically connected to the LFP battery of the portable drawn arc stud welder apparatus. The SWBCS includes a computer, a memory, and instructions therein to implement control and monitoring of the operation of the portable drawn arc stud welder apparatus.

    摘要: A drawn arc welding device includes a welding tool, and an energy storage device coupled to a power source. A charging circuit is connected to the energy storage device replenishing the storage device. A discharge circuit is connected to the welding tool and energy storage device. The discharge circuit regulates and adjusts a welding current of the welding tool to a specified amount. Also disclosed is a process that includes charging the energy storage device, actuating the welding tool, energizing a pilot arc current, lifting the weld stud off a workpiece to draw the pilot arc, energizing a welding arc wherein the discharge circuit regulates a welding current of the welding tool to a specified amount, and plunging the weld stud into the workpiece and turning off the discharge circuit.

A chuck (46) on an outer end portion of the frame holds a stud (22) while the stud is being welded to a base member. A stud supply (60) is connected with the frame (36) and includes a housing (64) which receives a stud retainer or magazine (70) containing a linear array (72) of studs (22) disposed in a side-by-side relationship. The studs (22) are fed from the retainer (70) in the stud supply housing (64) to a receiving location (62). A stud feed member (76) is manually moved from a retracted position to an extended position to sequentially feed studs (22) to the chuck (46). The size of a linear slot (88) in the stud supply housing (64) can be varied to enable retainers (70) containing studs (22) of different lengths to be positioned in the stud supply housing.
