    摘要: A solenoid-operated pilot-actuated valve is provided of the diaphragm type which has particular utility for irrigation purposes. The valve also finds industrial utility where it is desirable to control large amounts of flow energy with a small control signal. The valve includes a diaphragm chamber into which fluid is introduced to establish a fluid pressure which normally forces the diaphragm against an annular seat in the valve to maintain the valve in a closed condition. A stationary bleed tube is provided which extends through the diaphragm into the diaphragm chamber. A solenoid plunger normally closes off the upper end of the bleed tube. However, when the solenoid is energized, the plunger is withdrawn and opens the bleed tube, the diaphragm chamber is drained sufficiently to reduce the pressure therein to a point at which the diaphragm is forced off its seat by the upstream fluid pressure, and the valve is opened. Fluid is introduced into the diaphragm chamber from the upstream fluid pressure when the valve is closed through a restricted annular passage between the bleed tube and a guide mounted on the diaphragm. Movement of the diaphragm causes the guide to move up and down with respect to the bleed tube to provide a self-cleaning action in the annular passage.

    摘要: An improved solenoid valve is provided which is encapsulated in a thermosetting plastic to minimize the corrosive action of soil, fertilizers, or chemicals, when the valve is used, for example, in conjunction with a lawn sprinkling system, or the like. The solenoid valve is constructed to be encased in a molded thermosetting plastic housing, and which is formed to eliminate air voids around the energizing coil of the solenoid and which would have a tendency to produce a wicking action with resulting short circuiting of the coil. The solenoid valve also is constructed to minimize electrolytic action with its resultant deteriorating effects; this being achieved by maintaining similar metals throughout the structure, and by using epoxy adhesive, rather than soldered or brazed connections, to hold various components of the assembly together.

    摘要: A solid state temperature regulator is provided for a solar heating system for use in conjunction with a swimming pool, or the like. The solar swimming pool heating system includes the usual components, namely, a pump, a filter, and a collector, and in which the pump serves to circulate the water from the pool through the filter and collector and back into the pool. The system also includes additional components, namely, temperature sensors for the collector and for the circulated pool water, appropriate valves, and a solid state control circuit. The solid state control circuit responds to predetermined temperature differences sensed by the sensors to cause the pool water to be circulated through the collector so long as the collector is at a higher temperature than the circulated pool water, and which causes the circulated pool water to by-pass the collector when the temperature of the collector drops below the temperature of the circulated pool water. The control circuit also has a high temperature cut-off control which activates the valves to cause the circulated pool water to by-pass the collector when the temperature of the circulated pool water exceeds a particular threshold. The control circuit also includes a mode switch which may be actuated to reverse the action of the system, causing the pool water to be circulated through the collector when the collector temperature is lower than the pool water temperature, for example, at night following a hot day, in which the collector radiates to the black sky, whereby the collector can be used to cool the water in the pool.

    摘要: A motor driven diverter valve is provided which diverts fluid flow from a single inlet port to either one of two outlet ports, or vice versa. The valve finds general, although not exclusive, utility in solar heating systems for swimming pools, in which the valve is used selectively to divert water flow from the normal pump-filter loop of the pool installation through the solar collectors. In such an application, the diverter valve of the invention may be operated automatically in response to an electrical switching signal derived, for example, from a temperature controller in the solar heating control system, to direct the water through the solar collectors for one operating position of the valve, and to by-pass the solar collectors for a second operating position. The valve of the invention uses two synchronous permanent magnet drive motors which together consume less power than the conventional single shaded pole motor/gear box arrangement of the prior art.
