摘要: The present invention provides a dielectric optical fiber cable which is capable of being remotely detected while buried. Specifically, this invention incorporates a detectable and easily removable locating element which is attached to the optical fiber cable by a web defined by the jacket extending over both the optical fiber cable and the locating element. The web allows for the locating strand to be easily removed once separation of the locating element from the optical fiber cable is initiated. The web is designed to allow the initial tear to propagate into a precise longitudinal tear along a predetermined length of the optical fiber cable.

摘要: An air blown fiber tube cable having improved thermal stability in contrast to conventional air blown fiber (ABF) tube cables and within which one or more air blown optical fiber units can be installed. The air blown fiber tube is formed from a cross-linked polyolefin (preferably cross-linked high density polyethylene) comprising at least one non-polymer filler material having a coefficient of thermal expansion less than the coefficient of thermal expansion of said tube.

摘要: A water-tight optical fiber communications cable constructed without the use of a viscous water-blocking compound other than in the buffer tubes thereof. One or more water swellable yarns are helically wrapped around the central strength member to absorb any water which may be present in the interstices between the central strength member and the buffer tubes. Additionally, a water swellable tape is disposed between the core and the jacket of the cable to absorb water from the interstices between the buffer tubes and elements overlaying the core of the cable.

摘要: A break-out device particularly adapted for providing enhanced strain relief to the fiber optic ribbon which is broken out into individual optical fibers within the device. The break-out device comprises a housing having an aperture in one end to receive a fiber optic ribbon and an aperture in the opposing end to allow an exit for individual buffered optical fibers. A flexible elongate strain relief clamp is provided which is adapted to be fixedly positioned within the housing. The strain relief clamp includes an aperture in the medial portion thereof adapted to receive a fiber optic ribbon therein, and the strain relief clamp is further adapted to then be folded back upon itself at the aperture so as to fixedly engage the fiber optic ribbon between the overlaying portions thereof.

摘要: A bracket for attaching an optical unit to a rack is provided. The bracket comprises a bracket body and a fastener. The bracket body has a first wall including a first face and a second face opposite to the first face, and a protrusion extending in a direction intersecting with the first wall from the second face against the first face. The bracket body is provided with a hole penetrating through the first wall from the first face to the second face. The fastener is arranged to pass through the hole on the first wall and is configured to be rotatable with respect to the first wall. The fastener has a first hook including a holding surface substantially parallel to the second face. The holding surface of the first hook faces the second face to define a first gap between the holding surface and the second face of the first wall at least when the fastener rotates from an initial position to a first locking position.

摘要: Optical fiber networks, devices, and related methods are disclosed herein. In some aspects, an optical fiber network includes network devices having optical fibers for transmitting and receiving data. In the network, 100% of the optical fibers are utilized end-to-end across the plurality of network devices. Networks herein are also devoid of converters and include only a single direction connection between fibers at interconnect points between devices. Network devices may include ferrules, where at least some of the ferrules are devoid of an optical fiber. A method for providing an optical fiber network includes providing network devices having optical fibers for transmitting and receiving data and transmitting data using 100% of the optical fibers end-to-end across the network devices.
