Abstract: Disclosed is an optical fiber ribbon (1) in which a plurality of single-core coated optical fibers (11-22) are intermittently connected or separated in a length direction and a width direction while being connected every two cores. The optical fiber ribbon (1) satisfies conditional expressions [1], [2] when the length in the longitudinal direction of a connection portion (3) is denoted by A, the length in the longitudinal direction of a non-connection portion (5) in which separation portions (4) adjacent to each other overlap when viewing the separation portions (4) in the width direction is denoted by C, and the periodic interval in the longitudinal direction between the connection portions (3) is denoted by P.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of an optical fiber cable. The optical fiber cable includes a cable jacket having a jacket inner surface and a jacket outer surface in which the jacket inner surface defines a central bore extending along a longitudinal axis of the optical fiber cable. The optical fiber cable also includes a buffer tube having an inner buffer tube surface and an outer buffer tube surface, and the buffer tube is disposed within the central bore of the cable jacket. At least one optical fiber is disposed within the buffer tube. A flame retardant coating having at least one layer is applied to one or both of the jacket outer surface of the cable jacket or the outer buffer tube surface of the buffer tube.

Abstract: Provided are embodiments of an optical fiber cable. The optical fiber cable includes a cable jacket having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface defines a central cable bore, and the outer surface defines an outermost surface of the optical fiber cable and a cable cross-sectional area (AC). At least one buffer tube is disposed within the central cable bore. Each buffer tube has an interior surface defining a buffer tube cross-sectional area (ATube, ID). A plurality of optical fibers (N) are disposed within the at least one buffer tube. Each optical fiber has a fiber diameter of 160 microns to 200 microns. The plurality of optical fibers have a total fiber area (AF). The buffer tube has a free space (1−AF/ATube, ID) of at least 37%, and the optical fiber cable has a fiber density (N/AC) of at least 3.25 fibers/mm2.

Abstract: An optical fiber cable includes a central strength member, a bedding compound surrounding the central strength member, a plurality of buffer tubes stranded around the central strength member and the bedding compound such that the bedding compound forms to the buffer tubes and occupies substantially the entirety of an inner core area between the buffer tubes and the central strength member. At least one of the buffer tubes contains a plurality of optical fibers and a jacket surrounds the plurality of buffer tubes. The cable may further include a second bedding compound that fills interstices in an outer core area between the buffer tubes and the jacket.

Abstract: An optical fiber cable including a central strength member, a first plurality of tight-buffered ribbon stacks, a binder film, and a cable sheath. The central strength member extends along a longitudinal axis of the optical fiber cable. The tight-buffered ribbon stacks are SZ-stranded around the central strength member. An interstitial space is provided between adjacent tight-buffered ribbon stacks. A binder film continuously and contiguously surrounds the first plurality of tight-buffered ribbon stacks along the longitudinal axis. The binder film includes first portions and at least one second portion. Each of the at least one second portion of the binder film extends into one of the interstitial spaces of the first plurality of tight-buffered ribbon stacks. The cable sheath continuously and contiguously surrounds the binder film along the longitudinal axis, and the cable sheath is coupled to the first portions of the binder film.

Abstract: A fiber optic cable includes core elements wound in a pattern of stranding, the core elements comprising tubes surrounding optical fibers. The fiber optic cable further includes an binder film surrounding the stranded core elements. The binder film is continuous peripherally around the core elements, forming a continuous closed loop when viewed in cross-section, and continuous lengthwise along a length of the cable that is at least a meter. Further, the binder film is in radial tension and opposes outwardly transverse deflection of the core elements.
