    摘要: The present invention is a pyrotechnic time delay system that is improved over prior-art designs. Specifically, the system described herein comprises at least one delay element. The delay element or delay elements each have an input charge, a delay composition, and an output charge. Both the input charge and the output charge are igniter compositions and are comprised of the same components despite having different functional goals. The input charge and output charge compositions preferably contain titanium, manganese dioxide, and polytetrafluoroethylene. The delay composition may be modified from current formulations to include manganese and manganese dioxide, or tungsten and manganese dioxide. The system disclosed herein may be comprised of one delay element, or it may be modular wherein multiple delay elements are connected in series.

    摘要: A modular constructed, standardized test device for simulating a spin stabilized projectile which is fired from a barrel having rifling grooves, comprised of the bolted together, keyed to transfer spin, modular components of replaceable rotating band, replaceable front end and back end, and filler sections for further simulation of other components. The front end has an interior recessed area which allows for a selective integration of a threaded fuze or an aerodynamic, electronic, or other structure and the rear end has a crimp groove for selective attachment of a cartridge case, and aerodynamic or other structure to mimic the rear geometry of a projectile for testing purposes.

    摘要: A 40 millimeter (mm) projectile is capable of deploying a payload out of the rear of the projectile. The projectile carries the payload an extended distance from the muzzle and then disperses the payload after a command is provided to the projectile. The projectile includes a proximity fuze which allows it to sense a target and disperse the payload at a given distance from the target. Alternatively, a time-based fuze or radio frequency (RF) based fuze may be employed instead. The payload may be used against a variety of targets, such as personnel, vehicle or aerial targets. In addition, the projectile could be used as a training device for proximity, preprogrammed or RF-controlled fuzed projectiles.
