摘要： We provide methods and apparatus for handling sod which includes a washing machine in which the water is recycled and during recycling the soil removed from the sod is delivered for reuse. We also provide a method of delivering and take up of rolls of sod in which the peripheral speed of the roll remains constant regardless of the roll diameter; we display methods of physically working sod to remove soil therefrom and also methods of handling sod by supporting it with a flexible mesh where there is likely to be stress on the sod.

摘要： A turf anchor stake having a flat shank with a pointed lower end and a headed upper end or two flat shanks connected by a crossbar can be driven through turf into the soil beneath the turf to hold such turf in place until the turf root structure knits with surrounding root structure. To facilitate driving of the stakes the lower ends of the shanks are pointed and lateral projections from the lower end portions of the shanks can be provided to deter withdrawal of the shanks and lifting of the turf.

摘要： A spiker blade for use on a turf spiker assembly to break and ventilate a ground surface thereby facilitating penetration of air, water and nutrient through the surface. The spiker blade has a tooth profile with a trailing edge having a counterdepression segment. The counterdepression segment functions to create a ground surface depression into which ruffled material kicked up by the tooth during spiking may be deposited. As a result, the ground surface after spiking has taken place is maintained relatively smooth with an unruffled appearance.

摘要： A grass clipping receptacle and disposal apparatus is provided in the form of a cart or small trailer to be towed behind a small motorized utility vehicle of the type used in the maintenance of golf courses, parks, cemeteries, etc. The apparatus includes an upstanding bin or hopper having an open top into which the clippings are dumped for temporary storage. A rotatable toothed drum is mounted within an open bottom of the hopper to dispense the clippings held therein at a uniform rate. A belt and pulley drive means is provided for rotating the drum in response to movement of the apparatus, and a manually operated clutch mechanism serves to selectively couple or decouple the belt drive so as to dispose the drum in either a rotating or non-rotating mode during vehicle travel. With this apparatus, clippings from a golf green for example may be temporarily stored in the hopper. Thereafter the clutch mechanism is engaged to cause the rotating drum to discharge the clippings during travel to the next green thus disposing of the cuttings by spreading them over the distance between each green. To insure uniform dispensing of the collected clippings, the rotatable drum is provided with a plurality of staggered teeth or pins which project radially outwardly from a cylindrical drum surface to engage and impel the clippings outwardly through the bottom of the hopper. An adjustable gate is provided on the hopper adjacent the rotating drum to selectively change the size of the opening through which the grass clippings are dispensed, such that the rate of discharge can be regulated.
