摘要： A pet crate door latch with a vertically-reciprocating slider on the door and fixed tabs attached to a crate side panel adjacent to the door opening and forming open slots parallel to the panel. The slots can be vertical, inwardly-facing horizontal, or outwardly-facing horizontal. The slider has perpendicular or parallel edges that operate as slot edges. The perpendicular edges are slot edges for vertical slots and the parallel edges are slot edges for horizontal slots. There is a tab space below each slot edge. To engage the latch, the slider is raised until the tabs are aligned with the associated tab spaces. As the door is closing, the tabs fit through the tab spaces. When the door is closed, the slider is lowered until halted by a latch stop wherein the slot edge is transversely within the slot.

摘要： An air supply shutter for ventilating closed buildings includes a marginal frame with interconnected upper, lower and lateral frame members to define a centrally disposed air vent opening having inlet and outlet sides. A shutter flap is pivotally mounted on the frame for rotation about a generally horizontal axis between closed and open positions. A coupler is connected with the shutter flap and configured for engagement with an activator for shifting the shutter flap between the closed and open positions. The upper frame member includes an air guiding wall which is disposed on the outlet side of the air vent opening, faces the air vent opening, and extends upwardly at a predetermined angle to deflect the air flowing through the air vent opening.

摘要： An animal husbandry tunnel door with adjoining extrusions for closing a tunnel ventilation opening typically in a broiler house has opposing faces with top, bottom and side edges. The faces sandwich an insulation layer. The adjoining extrusions have a first door top, bottom and side extrusion, along with a second door side edge extrusion. The first door top, bottom and side edge extrusions each have parallel inner prongs with barbs and adjacent parallel outer flanges forming two slots therebetween for receiving the top, bottom and side edges of the opposing door faces as the inner prongs with barbs pass into the insulation and are held thereat. The second door side edge extrusion has parallel inner prongs adjacent parallel outer flanges forming two slots therebetween for receiving the other side face edges as the inner prongs with barbs pass into the insulation and are held thereat. The second extrusion has second opposing parallel skirt flanges with inward distal barbs adapted to impinge upon, securely capture and hold the outer flanges of one of the first extrusions of a second adjacent tunnel door.

摘要： A method and apparatus is provided for raising poultry, such as chickens, for food production. In a first embodiment, the method includes the steps of: providing a facility for housing the poultry, providing at least one light-absorbing ventilation fan associated with the facility for ventilating the facility, exposing an interior of the facility to natural light cycles of an outside environment for a first period and regulating light cycles of the interior for a second period, thereby mimicking daylight duration variation representative of seasonal changes for stimulating sexual development of the poultry. In a second embodiment, the method includes the steps of: providing a facility for housing the poultry, providing at least one light-absorbing ventilation fan associated with the facility for ventilating the facility, limiting exposure of an interior of the facility to light to produce a brown-out effect therein for enhancing physical development of the poultry.

摘要： A system and method for improving the actuation of vent doors in poultry houses and other animal confinement houses is claimed. The system reduces the number of pulleys and other moving parts and increases the system reliability by replacing high-maintenance motor-operated ball screw gear drives with pneumatic cylinders that move a control line to open and close the vent doors. The system provides for variable speed of the vent door actuation and reduces the number of bends in the control line cables. The system is capable of automatically causing the vent doors to open in the event of a power loss.
