摘要: A system and method for providing a supplement. The system includes a pump having an inlet and an outlet line. The inlet line is coupled to a container, and the container has a supplement. The outlet of the pump is coupled to a nozzle. The system can be housed in a support box which is coupled to a feeder which has feed. Feed is discharged from the feeder, and the pump sprays a supplement to partially coat the discharged feed. Nutrients, vitamins, etc. can be added to the supplement which can add to the value of the feed.

摘要: A system and method is shown for processing animals, such as calves, from birth to slaughter by utilizing hot-fed rations during the feeding process. The system and method reduces or eliminates the need to use hormones and simultaneously reduces or eliminates the need to sterilize the meat products. Each calf or animal is weaned at a weaning station, fed at a feeding station, slaughtered at a slaughter station to provide a carcass that is substantially the same size as other carcasses for the same breed of animal processed in the system. The consistent carcass size enables manufacture of consistent carcasses which, in turn, facilitates providing substantially the same size meat cuts. This feature enables use of a standard-size packaging, such as a case-ready package, which may be shipped for display and purchase at a store.

摘要: Methods and systems for providing liquid feed to livestock deliver the liquid feed to a feeding station at a temperature below that of the mother's natural milk to encourage use of the liquid feed by the young as a supplement and not a replacement. A second reservoir expands the capacity of the system without increasing the size of the mixing reservoir. The second reservoir is equipped with selectively operable refrigeration and heating elements to facilitate cooling of the liquid feed or heating of a cleaning solution. A peroxide doser introduces small quantifies of peroxide to clean the liquid feed and prevent gorging. Orifices through which feed is discharged at feeding stations decrease in cross sectional area along the circulation line in the direction of flow to counteract variation in discharge flow rates caused by a pressure differential in the liquid feed along the line.

摘要: A system and method are provided for administering micro-ingredient feed additives or supplements to feed rations. The amount of each particular micro-ingredient to be delivered to a feed ration may be determined by a bulk density measurement. Alternatively, bulk density measurement may be used in combination with existing weight measurement and volumetric metering methods for multiple micro-ingredients. Delivery by bulk density requires determination of a bulk density value along with use of a dispensing device that dispenses a calculated amount of the micro-ingredient ration. The dispensing calculation may be achieved by analysis of delivery time, pulse count, or some other quantitative measure such as magnitude. Use of bulk density as a measurement technique eliminates the requirement for use of scales in the micro-ingredient delivery system.

摘要: A system for supplying heated milk or other liquids to individual drinkers from which animals, particularly baby pigs, can drink on a need basis by actuating a valve in the drinker that allows the milk to flow into the drinker. The system has a plurality of drinkers within a closed system in which the milk is supplied from a reservoir, heated to a minimum predetermined temperature range and pumped to each drinker which is positioned so that milk is continuously circulated through the drinker any time the circulating pump is running. This not only keeps the heated milk from spoiling, but it also prevents the drinkers from becoming clogged and permits the entire system to be cleaned in place.
