摘要： Fishermen use gaffs to spear, hold and land large fish. This is dangerous when done from a boat and always kills the fish. A gaff consists of a u-shaped steel bar (“shank”) with one end attached to a pole and the opposite end containing a sharp point. The invention, similar to existing gaffs, but designed to hold a fish without harming it, has a blunt end, rather than a point. Instead of spearing fish, it uses two steel, spring activated, one-way gates, that span the opening between the sides of the shank. They open and then close when pulled or pushed across the part of the fish's body to which the tail attaches, making it impossible for the fish to pull its tail free from the space between the closed gates and the curve in the bend of the shank. The fish is then held without harm.

摘要： An elongated handle has a pointed fish hook rotatably affixed to one end of the handle, the hook having two operating dispositions, a first disposition wherein the hook is open for gaffing purposes and a second disposition wherein the hook folded back against the handle to block the hook point for safety. A mechanism releasably secures the hook at either disposition. A button actuated mechanism releases the hook from either disposition so that the hook can be moved from one operating disposition to the other. Preferably the gaff further includes a bias for urging the hook toward its open, gaffing disposition.

摘要： A two-pronged body restraining device includes a restraint unit provided at one end of an operating rod and a lock unit provided at the other end within the operating rod. The restraint unit includes a pair of griping members pivotably attached to a supporting member secured to the front end of a sliding bar. The sliding bar is slidably inserted into the operating rod and a pair of swinging plates, which are pivotably attached to a supporting element in which the sliding bar is slidably inserted. The lock unit is comprised of a rack-type engagement portion having saw-toothed projections, and a locking portion having a locking piece to be engaged with the rack-type engagement portion. The lock unit is configured to slide the sliding member only toward the rear end of the operating rod causing the pair of griping members to be closed when the supporting member is moved backwardly.

摘要： A fish measuring device includes a flat, flexible base and an elongate, flexible tape measure secured to the base. A fish is positioned atop the base and the base is wrapped around the fish to inhibit its movement. Releasable fasteners maintain the base in the wrapped configuration during the measurement. The tape measure is extended into parallel, overlying relation to the fish so that the length of the fish may be measured. At least one stiffener is disposed in sliding engagement to the tape measure and is held in a vertical plane near the head of the fish. The tape measure is held taut from an exit point of the stiffener in parallel relation to the fish so that the measurement can be made. At least one suction cup is formed in a reverse side of the base so that the base is releasably secured to a flat support surface.
