    Abstract: A tensioning and closure system for a waistband of a garment, such as trousers is disclosed. A waistband defines an opening and a tensioning member is secured on one side of the opening. A receiver configured to receive the tensioning member is positioned on an opposite side of the opening and receives the tensioning member in order to close the opening. A tensioning strap includes a first portion anchored at a first end and extending to the tensioning member and a second portion passing from the tensioning member back toward the first end. A second end of the tensioning strap may be pulled to increase tension in the first portion and adjust the effective size of the waistband. The first portion may pass through a first sleeve secured to the waistband and the second portion may pass through a second sleeve secured to the waistband and overlapping the first sleeve.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for modifying an article of clothing employs a button or disk and an oval shaped or elongated receiver or collar. A shirt, blouse, dress or other article of clothing can be modified at any selected location(s) by placing the disk or button behind a portion of the fabric of the article of clothing, encapsulating or twisting the button or disk so that it is covered with the fabric, then pushing the fabric covered button or disk through a second layer or section of the article of clothing. The disk or button with both sections of fabric are then passed through a central elongated opening of the collar or receiver. The collar or receiver then retains the button and the portions of the article of clothing in a position that produces a gathering of fabric, thus modifying the design or look of the garment.

    Abstract: A self-contained button attachment kit includes a pair of buttons, fastener clips and a tool for dispensing a fastener from a fastener clip to reattach a button to an article of clothing. The tool includes a single, hollow needle, a holder adapted to retain the needle and buttons, a handle telescopingly mounted on the holder, a spring-biased ejection mechanism connected to the handle, a front cap removably coupled to the handle over the needle and a rear cap removably coupled to the handle for storing fastener clips. In operation, the front cap serves as an anvil that supports the article and button to be attached. With a fastener clip loaded into the holder, the needle is then inserted through the pair of items. Displacement of the handle relative to the holder causes an ejection rod to dispense the cross-bar of a fastener through the needle, thereby completing the attachment process.

    Abstract: A device for converting a button/button hole attachment combination in a shirt, blouse or the like to a pressure contact system which avoids the need of manipulating a small button through a small button hole. The device includes a first sheet of flexible material having an exposed side and attachment side, wherein the attachment side includes adhesive means for attachment to a button location on the shirt or blouse. A second sheet of flexible material including an exposed side and an attachment side includes a button coupled at its attachment side to facilitate positioning at a button hole corresponding to the button location means for the first sheet of material and located on the shirt or blouse. The respective exposed sides of the first and second sheets of material include hook/loop attachment means which are capable of being joined on contact and separated by merely pulling the respective pieces apart.     Abstract: A button with a plastic shank is removably secured to a fastener bar that is sewed or riveted to a garment. The shank of the button has a transverse slit in it of the same thickness as the thickness of the fastener bar; and this slit terminates in a hole just below the head of the button which is of the same diameter as the width of the fastener bar. The button can be mounted on the fastener bar by slipping the slit in its shank over the fastener bar and then turning the button so that the bar enters and engages in the hole in the shank. To remove the button from the bar it is first turned to have the fastener bar aligned with the slit in the button shank, and then the shank is slid off the fastener bar.
