The head portion includes a hoop having inner and outer peripheral walls. The hoop defines a head size having a maximum longitudinal and transverse dimensions, a, and b, respectively. The dimension a is at least 1.2 times the dimension b. The inner peripheral wall includes string holes. The cross segments transversely extend from one of the string holes to another, and the main segments longitudinally extend from one of the string holes to another. The cross segment closest to the handle portion and the end point of the longitudinal dimension, a, closest to the handle portion define a second longitudinal dimension, c. The ratio of dimension a to dimension c is at least 6.5. The string bed has at least one more main segment than cross segment.

The dimension a is at least 1.2 times the dimension b. The inner peripheral wall includes string holes. The string has a diameter within the range of 1.10 to 1.55 millimeters. The string forms a string bed of interlaced main and cross string segments. Each of the cross segments transversely extends from one of the string holes to another, and each of the main segments longitudinally extends from one of the string holes to another. The string bed has at least one more main segment than cross segment. At least one of the main segments contacting the tennis ball exhibits a snap back velocity of at least 1 meter per second.

    摘要: A sports racket, for tennis and the like sports, has an elongated handle attached to a head having a racket face, which is spanned by a uniform string structure. The head has four sides, forming a non-elliptical shape, in which the opposite sides are substantially parallel. Longitudinal strings, all of which are substantially identical in length and run essentially parallel to each other, and transversal strings, all of which are substantially identical in length and run essentially parallel to each other and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, span the racket face. The racket has a larger racket face than conventional rackets, while maintaining the length and weight measurements of conventional rackets, resulting in a very large sweet spot and more good hits. The racket has maximally long strings at all points on the racket face and strings substantially identical in length at all points on the racket face resulting in a uniformity of response for off-center hits, an increase in the ball rebound speed, a decrease in angular deflection for off-center hits, and the ability to set the tension of the strings such that they vibrate with the same frequency. The racket has a greater moment of inertia than conventional rackets, resulting in reduced racket rotation and a reduction of injuries to players, such as “tennis elbow”.

    摘要: A tennis racquet is provided with increased resistance against twisting of the racquet frame by increasing the width of the frame just above the area where the yoke and Y-shaped arms of the throat merge with the U-shaped upper portion of the head. The width of the frame in that area is preferably at least 0.600 inch, and more preferably about 0.640 inch. The ratio of the width and the height is about 0.54. The increased resistance to twisting permits the frame to be wider, thereby increasing the maximum width of the strings, reducing the difference between the maximum string width and maximum string length, and increasing the polar moment of inertia of the racquet.

The opposing legs of the tubular frame curve inwardly toward one another and then converge linearly. The converging legs continue to converge, but in an inverse curve, to define a narrow neck region, and merge into an elongated shaft. Because of its geometry, the racquet exhibits improved strength and durability.
